Mrsh hope the rash has died down and your lil man is ok!
Lil miss appears to be a heat fiend like her dad and is loving the weather atm, she's been having 2 hour long day time naps the last few days and is sleeping really well overnight too so long may it continue! I however being of Irish stock and practically melting & hiding from the sun
One quick question, the hv said anything above factor 30 is unnecessary and just a money making ploy by the companies but i've always thought bubbas needed factor 50 - is that what everyone else is using?
Eating is going really well although Shay has taken to eating the flesh and leaving the skin on everything - I do that too, always have & people think I'm odd for it - however is it normal at this age (7 months) with things like nectarines, plums, oranges etc?
Maybe she's finding the skin a bit tough to chew (gum)? Or perhaps she's watching you.
Re. your question about sunscreen, I'm not an expert, but I did hear that factor 30 is effectively a total sunblock so anything over that isn't really adding much. This would tie in with what your HV says. However, most kids' sunscreen tends to be factor 50, it doesn't cost any more so what's the harm in buying the highest factor you can? Important to make sure it has a good UVA screen factor too (at least four stars, preferably five if you can find it). Personally I think it's wise to simply keep them out of the sun in weather like this, full stop."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
She used to eat the skin before she had any teeth lol, think my bad habits might be rubbing off then boo!
With the sun as strong as it is I like to smother her in sun block even if we aren't out in it for any real length of time as I'd burn walking from the front door to the car in this weather so better to be safe then sorry0 -

I know we all (rightly) worry about a meningitis rash but that's very distinctive. It's not so much a skin rash as more bruising under the skin. Obviously get it checked if you're worried, but hopefully it's looking better now.
Hi fluff thank you for asking.
I've got him in the Drs tomorrow morning, again the rash isn't there this morning but as the day gets hotter I know it will come back. Best way to describe it is like we have goosebumps? It's like then but red, doesn't seem itchy or annoying to him, he's still his normal self, they just seem to be red.
I'm getting him weighed today so will ask the hv when I go, I'm positive it's heat rash but I'd rather been told its nothing to worry about to put my mind at ease!
I can't wait for the sun to die down, it's not fun with a 4 month, I can't go out and enjoy it when he's rashy!Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
I use 50/50+ for the children and for me!
Fluff once they get bigger it gets really hard to keep them out of the sun
We're off to the nurse this morning with huge red spots that look like bites.
Edit: next time you're in my neck of the woods sammie let me know and we'll meet up if you like

We use factor 50 - I'd rather be safe than sorryI think it costs the same, but even if it doesn't, I'd still buy it as it'd be worth it.
My LO is a bit inconsistent when it comes to eating the skin on things like nectarines and plums. On some days she happily eats everything, on other days she spits it out or peels it before she puts in her mouth. I do find that she copies everything I do when we eat though, so it could be that this is what Shay is doing?0 -
Hope all the little people with heat rash get better soon. It's a bit cooler here today and there's a bit of a breeze, so it's far less stuffy, which is nice!
Delain, hope the nurse can sort out those red spots - sounds horrible0 -

I think it is her copying me now others have mentioned it, she munches away happily and just leaves the perfectly stripped skin on the side when she's finished. I'm going to be extra careful when I eat as have far too many habits I don't want little miss to copy x
I have factor 50 for the same reason, the hv saw it in the changing bag and said it wasn't necessary so thought I was being over cautious so will ignore her & carry on with what we're doing. Thanks for all the replies ladies!0 -
