It's only the second nap I've had since he was quite small. I didn't expect to sleep so long. I blame the OH keeping me awake on Sunday night!0

Omg today has been so sticky! Oh bought a BBQ and it took 2 hrs to get going, mil came over and lo missed two naps so after a half hour nap at 7pm we had a stroppy baby!
We gave him a cool bath and now he's asleep in just a nappy, thermometer says 28.8degrees! And I'm sticky and stressed!
On Sunday lo started with a red rash on his back where his nappy is, it looks like heat rash, and the redness cleared when I put pressure on it, however it's now spread? Is this normal? It's up his back, round where his nappies go and a bit down his chest. I don't want to take him to the drs just to be told its heat rash but its bothering me... Not him he's still his happy self. I've had him on a sheet for wetting the bed with no nappy on most of the day but it can only take two wees and then needs to be thrown really so it's costing a bit! We've given him a cool bath every night so he's not sweaty! Will it go when the weather cools??Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
mrsashworth - can't actually advise anything about the rash because I don't know but I do know GPs are very much used to (rightly) anxious mothers and would much much rather see you and reassure you that it is heat rash than let you worry. I know my GP definitely would rather reassure me and my friend who is a GP always says the same. The problem being is the tiny little people can't tell you what is wrong so it is just a mummy/GP guessing game! Hope he is OK, it is ridiculously hot, 27 in our room, i've got a fan on little miss to cool her down. :eek:0

I'd pop and get it checked if it's concerning you. If you are told it's just heat rash then you'll know not to worry
have a think... Have you changed washing powder? Baby wash? Anything that may be coming into contact to cause an allergy rash? I always thought heat rash disappeared once cooled (but I could be wrong).

In the morning it's not even there, and tonight it's not, but through the day it is, I've googled heat rash and it does look like it but like I said its spread now.
Nope not changed wash powder or anything else, he's generally happy and the same baby just rashy lol! Will book him in drs tomorrow! He's booked for his last jabs next week but going to cancel, it's a little mean to do it in this weather isn't it!
Thanks for the replies ladiesNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
The toothbrush has well and truly replaced her comforter. She points at it when we go into the bathroom in the evening, holds onto it in the bath and goes to bed still clutching it. When she woke up at midnight last night, the usual things (dummy, water, singing) did nothing to get her back to sleep. I gave her the toothbrush and she settled immediately. This morning it even came with us to the nursery as she wouldn't let go of it - it's a 30-minute walk and she held onto it all the way there0

I always err on the side of caution mrsashworth even if I do seem neurotic sometimes!
Nutella - That is the cutest! This one's tooth brush is an excellent distraction technique in between bath and final feed. She usually wails the house down like a banshee but brush her teeth and give her the toothbrush and she just chews it silently. Love that your little one took hers for a walk this morning0 -

I guess the average toothbrush doesn't get out much, so I'm sure it appreciated a bit of fresh airIt'd be nice if she actually let me brush her teeth without her screaming blue murder, but maybe that's excatly the point: if she holds on to it all the time, then mummy won't be able to?...
Cute that a bit of toothbrush chewing has become part of your bedtime routine0 -

How is he today? Freddie had the same on Monday - a red, slightly raised rash over his back and trunk. I'm confident it's a heat rash and he was much better on Tuesday morning once he'd cooled down a bit.
I know we all (rightly) worry about a meningitis rash but that's very distinctive. It's not so much a skin rash as more bruising under the skin. Obviously get it checked if you're worried, but hopefully it's looking better now."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Morning ladies, hope you and bubbas are well and not suffering too much in the heat!
Mrsh hope the rash has died down and your lil man is ok!
Lil miss appears to be a heat fiend like her dad and is loving the weather atm, she's been having 2 hour long day time naps the last few days and is sleeping really well overnight too so long may it continue! I however being of Irish stock and practically melting & hiding from the sun
One quick question, the hv said anything above factor 30 is unnecessary and just a money making ploy by the companies but i've always thought bubbas needed factor 50 - is that what everyone else is using?
Eating is going really well although Shay has taken to eating the flesh and leaving the skin on everything - I do that too, always have & people think I'm odd for it - however is it normal at this age (7 months) with things like nectarines, plums, oranges etc?0
