Get well soon bubbas. How are you all today? Its been so hot. Poor Andr! was a sweat bucket. Lol
Sorry I didn't write much after Andr!'s birth. Everything just got so overwhelming. Lol...labour startedon new years day and spent the next day at hospital in pain. Then took the epidural but bubs had not moved and was told he was in a very awkward position so had an emergency c-section. Was in hospital for days. Hated it . couldn't breast feed and Andr! was hungry so formula fed from day 1 snd then tried to combine feed. He refused boob after 4 months so fully on formula now.
Weaning is going ok. Feel like a bad mum though as get lots of pouches. :-( getting home kitchen done so once back home will try make an effort.
Just keeping busy and so tired. Lol. Sorry rambled on there xxBecame Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

I didn't realise you weren't still combi feeding Rups
if you froze any milk then you can still use it!
Moneypenny, we've had one choke. He coughed it up and it made him a little sick. But that was a slice of mandarin and the skin can be pretty tough. He also sucks most things soggy and most things get broken into pieces without making it to his mouth. The longer we go on the better he's getting. Try some fruit filled mini shredded wheats (supermarket brand) Softened with milk. They break up lovely. Dewi often eats them in 3/4 strips. They occasionally get stuck in his mouth but I just give him some water. Not often have I had to fish anything out. Dw about the banana going down in chunks. I don't think they really chew much to begin with. Another hit here has been sweet potato fries! I bit the crispy ends off after cooking them in the oven and he sucked them inside out.
While we're on the subject... I was quite proud tonight. Dewi has learnt how to "pincer" and was picking up blueberriesthat's good at this age right? They even made it to his mouth (mostly)!

Wow at eating blueberries!!!!!
mine is like bamama's, every day she gets better at it. This might be week 3 of blw, and it's amazing how much she munches now! We started with pretty much nothing, but yesterday we went to a Chinese buffet with the in laws and they were amazed at how much she ate! She had two tomato slices, two mozzarella slices, a quarter of a small orange, cucumber, banana biscuit and some jelly. Today she had some pieces of haddock, more cucumber, grated cheese, eggy bread, strawberries (she loved them!) and more tomato. She gags sometimes, but rarely, I just pat her back firmly and offer water. I second the blueberry wheat with formula / bm / full fat milk, great advice. We have only offered finger food, except two days with porridge. She's eating more everyday and she seems to have fun. I have not tried pasta yet, I saw Dewi with some, I'll have to try!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Hope everyone else has managed not to melt!!
How many is 'a few', turtle? I have the odd libation and my extensive research has suggested that if you're OK to drive, you're OK to breastfeed. If I have one or two small glasses - I don't mean those ridiculous 250ml measures - then I still feed Freddie."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

I tried a stick of banana she broke it into little pieces (still 1-2cm in size) and swallowed them whole. She has had a piece of toast but sucks it until its soggy then I have to rescue it off the roof of her mouth!!
That's what they do for a few months. It's totally normal as they learn how to move food around in their mouths, plus their gag reflexes are really far forward and therefore easily triggered. It doesn't mean the food shouldn't be offered to them, you've just got to be vigilant! Gagging/coughing is fine, going silent and looking a bit panicked not so fine"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Marta, he loves the pasta and tomato sauce. Gilly gave me a good recipe for sauce but I was lazy and just did a simple one (passata, celery and red pepper).0

Omg 27 degrees in our bedroom last night, I had lo just in a vest till 12 and then in his 1 tog sleeping bag from then, I checked him a couple of times during the night and he wasn't too warm. Such a sticky night!
His heat rash doesn't seem too bad this morning, I'm going to have him in just his nappy this afternoon when it gets hotter! We have no shade round the back of our house so the back rooms are sooooo hot!
It's interesting to read about your experiences with blw, we still have a couple of months to go but we are starting to but things ready, blender etc. I plan to not buy many pouches, but I also planned to bf lol we will seeNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
Some babies just are more gaggy than others. We abandoned blw more or less after the first go, and went with purees. For ages he wouldn't even try the ones with bits in, then one day it just clicked. He eats fairly normally now I'd say, just took longer than the expected timescale to get there.0

I'm sticking to the traditional pureed stuff but am not creative at all with foods. Well done to your bubbas doing so well. I want Andr! to start grabbing stuff to eat tok. What can I start with?
No bamama, stopped bf after 4 months. Never had enough milk to freeze as when I tried expressing I wouldn't even have enough so it depressed me a lot. Then beforw holiday in june he just refused to bf. I was so upset but thought to just carry on with formula. Sorry for mistakes. Typing on phone xBecame Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

I had no idea. He's doing well and is happy so that's all that matters
Banana, toast, potato wedges/fries. He can eat anything really but the soft/not crumbly stuff is good to start with. Don't be surprised if it just gets played with.0
