Hi, am new to this thread

LO is nearly 8 weeks old and he's my second child.

LO is very demanding and wanting fed all the time. I'm breastfeeding and he seems to get enough as he's putting on weight and seems fine but I am so tired. I've ended up giving him formula (1 or 2 bottles a day) and this has helped as he seems fuller for longer and sleeps! :)

I don't know about any one else on this thread but I've had conflicting advice from midwives and the health visitor....one says to do both if that helps and the other says no as the bottle would confuse him. I've been using a dummy, bottle and been breastfeeding and he seems to do all with no problems re confusion. I've decided to do what's best for the 2 of us and keep doing what I'm doing. Mummy needs her sanity!

Hi. Can't offer much advice but wanted to say congrats and welcome x

LadyMorticia re excema a friend's baby had a similar reaction to Doublebase and was given a cream made from oatmeal, or oat milk, oaty something anyway and his skin cleared up in no time. Maybe worth mentioning to your doc as they have a stack of excema medication they can wheel out, but it can take a while to find the one that works for you.

Anibell welcome and congrats! I can only echo what fluff etc have said re combo feeding, but the main thing is try not to stress over it - happy mummy = happy baby and vice versa.

Hi, does anyone elses baby sound very "chesty" at times? Mine is 4 months now and this doesn't happen all the time just several times a day. There doesn't seem to be a pattern Is it just milk in his throat, or extra saliva due to teething (he is drooling loads) or should I be worried? It doesn't seem to bother him, but sounds awful.

Hey everyone. Haven't posted on this thread in aggggges! LO is now 5 months old and growing quickly! He's a proper little giggler. :)

He has Eczema on his face and behind his ears and it seems to be spreading to his scalp. :( It looks so unsightly.:( It doesn't seem to bother him that much (although, he has started scratching his scalp in his sleep. :() The HV prescribed Doublebase cream but it just seems to make it redder and angrier. :( I had bad eczema as a baby and so did my DH.
Going to take him to the GP to see what she suggests and will change washing powder to see if that helps.

I echo what katiechoc says, you can try getting a handful of oats (cheapy porridge ones will do) wrap them in a muslin and use that in the bath to wash LO. It soothes and they shouldn't have a reaction. It has a moisturising and soothing effect.

Candlewax my Lo is 13/5 mths and she does a weird throaty thing occasionally sounds like she smokes 40 a day! She's not bothered by it and when she was younger I asked the doctor (I'd taken her for something else) and he listened to her chest and said it was nothing.

If it worries you maybe ask your HV?

So, after a few weeks of on off exercising and my scales being firmly glued to one spot, I just googled 'breastfeeding can't lose weight'... and it seems it's not just me! From what I've read, some people just carry a fat reserve and it won't shift. Someone was saying hips, thighs and lower stomach, which is exactly where mine is lingering, I look like a weeble :D

So I guess all I can do is keep trying and hope it falls off when he stops? He's definitely not ready at the moment, he's quite insistent that he needs feeding!

Evening, I am around, I've been so busy, I am reading every day just can't find the time to comment, and now my laptop has a new battery the charger decided to give up the ghost. Spent all weekend listing stuff on Ebay as I really need to raise as much money as I can to move, and couldn't resist free listing weekend.

Glad you got the staydown milk MrsH, hoping it works for you :o make sure you get it on prescription if it does.

Agree with the oat bath for excema supposed to be really good.

I've been back on Slimming World for a week and lost 4.5lbs this week, so hoping I can keep it going.

Hope everyone is well, apologies again for the fleeting visit, not enough ours in the day at the moment. I take my hat off to you mamas with more than 1!! xx

Hi there I sometimes lurk on here, although my LO is over two now.
At the risk of bringing doom, I didn't lose any weight while breastfeeding, or after I stopped. Apparently my mum was the same. I felt like the "breastfeeding line" was all a big lie! It eventually came off, although it's now working its way back on again now I'm pregnant again...

I'm praying that it will go, there is something odd going on! :D I was just trying to explain to my other half, he was saying, oh, it takes time for exercise to have an effect. But, it doesn't matter if I eat all the pies, or exercise every day, my scales have been stuck for weeks. Last time they did change, I randomly dropped 7 pounds over 2 days, then put them all back over the next 2. It's infuriating!

I did lose weight last time when I stopped... but! I'd put on absolutely tons while I was feeding (about 3 sizes!) and I had some major life changes at the same time as I gave up. So who knows if it would've happened anyway?

Ah bless hun. He sounds gorgeous! Hopefully the doc will be able to prescribe something. What do you use in the bath, and how often do you bath him x

We don't use anything in the bath so as to not upset his very sensitive skin (although, the HV has just prescribed a bath oil for him. Just waiting for DH to be able to go out and pick it up for me). We bathe him once a week as anymore than that dries his skin out more and this is what we were advised by the HV.

Hello bit of advice needed, obviously now my lo is on this thicker milk, and dr thinks he has colic so any one know of good anti colic bottles? I've been hearing mam and dr browns a lot? Also what do you ladies feel of infacol? Worth it or not? Hate my baby screaming for no reason, a good hr and a half last night with me feeling like **** but I've got some 24hr (I hope) vomiting bug!! :(

Lady m - baby don't have it easy sometimes, mine looked like a giant dandruff flake for the first few weeks, granted not a skin problem but we had oilatum in the bath with him because naive here bought johnsons thinking because it was for babies it'd be fine, waste of time, dried his skin no end!! Good luck!!
Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!
