Helllo, just checking in. AWOL again, my laptop battery is dead (actually dead, needs the bin) so I'm waiting on a new one being delivered. Stealing my OH's computer tonight while he's at work.

Hope everyone is ok and babies are being co-operative sleepers.

    Hugs xx

How the heck do you get a baby to fall asleep on their own? Dewi will only go down for the night by falling asleep on the boob.
I can't do it but DH seems to manage by patting/rocking LO.

Bamama, a bedtime routine made wonders here, although we had to persevere for a few weeks before it worked, but now she goes sleepy very quickly. I used to have to rock her for up to an hour, now she might fall asleep on my lap after her feed, without any walking around and rocking, I find harder now putting her down for naps. Our routine is vert simple now, but I repeat it every night at around the same time and without variation: nappy change, sleeping bag, move to bedroom with lights off and darkness, ewan and feed. When I put the sleeping bag she starts to rub her eyes, that's her cue I think, which is reinforced with going to the bedroom and putting ewan, no other light or sound. It might be worth trying, it took us about three weeks because we were not sticking to it properly at first, like for example I would delay going to the bedroom if there was something on tv, but once I stuck to it properly, I could see the difference. It's given me the evenings back, she is usually asleep between 7:30-7:45pm and stays that way until past midnight. It wasn't like this before. How are you, any better?

Quick question : my room is 20-21 degrees. I put her in a vest and sleeping bag (1.0 or 1.5 at the moment), but when u pick her up for a feed at night, I get the impression her skin is cold. I don't want to overheat her, but I don't want her to be cold either. I love warmth and I could be under a mountain of blankets despite being warm. Do you think that's fine for her? Should I put a sleepsuit without the vest and then the sleeping bag? Or try to put always long sleeved vests?

Happy birthday to your little girl Nutella! Hope you have a lovely day :j

Glad you had a nice day Sammie - think you might be jinxed with another fire alarm going off?!?!

George was up at 5.20 again. Wasn't even that bright at that time! Thanks for the link Jonno. Looks like £50 is going to be about the bet we could get one for. Going to try porridge for supper tonight as well as he's been hopping about whining while I got his brekkie ready this morning.

We're having a picnic in the park with his baby friends today, got to make sandwiches and chop up some berries to take - made cupcakes and cookie pops last night :)

bamama re self settling. George was the same until about 8 months as I was just too lazy to change it, but it was getting to the point where he didn't actually need the milk every time he needed a nap. I tried feeding him to the point of being drowsy then putting him down but that was a waste of time. So I just decided enough was enough and made sure I fed him away from nap times, and did cc when he needed to sleep. Sounds harsh but it worked, and it only took just over a day (3 naps) and now he goes off by himself pretty much every time. I fed him to sleep at bedtimes until 11 months, when my supply dried out and I stopped bfing, and that was fine, he looked a bit confused when I put him down but he went straight off.

That's because he's a titchy-tiny! Don't worry about anything re. sleeping/self-soothing until they're six months or more. Plenty of time for gentle encouragement and sleep training from six months to a year. Until then, who cares if he wants a bit of booby before he can sleep - he needs his mummy.

If you want to try, start putting him in his cot when he's awake, but sleepy. If he's still crying after a few minutes, then soothe him and don't worry about it too much. But try not to actually put him down when he's already asleep.

That sounds fine for what I think is a warm room (Freddie's is more like 18 at the moment, 15 in winter). However, I would certainly have her in something sleeved.

I'd do a sleepsuit (or a long-sleeved body suit) and the sleeping bag.

I can't put him in the moses basket for the night until he is completely asleep otherwise he wakes and talks and grunts and then finally cries. He'll have anoyher good suck at the boob before passing out and then I pick him up... sometimes he wakes sometimes he doesn't.

When I put him down last night he was crying with his eyes shut so I tried to shush him but he started staring at me. I sang for a good 20 min but he just seemed to wake more until he just cried. That was at 8.30. He didn't sleep til 9.30. We were then up at 2,4 and 6.40. Awake for the day at 8.20 though he seems shattered again.

We still don't have proper naps. For a couple of weeks he'd sleep at 11, 3 and 6. That's all gone.
