Hello, I'm a long time lurker and reader of this thread, but this is my first post. Just after some advice really.
My LO is 17 weeks old today, and for the last 6 weeks or so, has been being more and more sick after his feeds. He has 6ozs every 4 hours, sleeping through from 10.30-7.30.
I've spoken to the health visitor, who advised 5ozs every 3 hours, which resulted in a very unhappy boy, so went back to his normal routine, which is one he has fallen into himself.
Spoke to HV again today, who has said that some babies are just sick, and that I could start weaning him next week, as the food should weigh heavier on his stomach.
However, I am reluctant to do this as I don't think he is ready for weaning at all yet, he's showing no signs.
Wondering if anyone has any advice?
I don't have any experience as a parent but having read my medical records, I know that I was a sicky baby and that whilst I did eventually "grow out of it", solids didn't make any difference. I would ask the HV if she can give you references to the research showing that early weaning would help (which I imagine doesn't exist) or refer you to a specialist who can give you more information.
  • I listened to Gilly about the MAM bottles so can't take the credit ;)

I bought this: http://www.tesco.com/direct/mam-anti-colic-starter-set-green/210-2231.prd - the Mam starter set for £14 out of Tesco Direct and it has been worth every penny. That and the £13.50 Microwave MAM steriliser which comes with a few bottles too! (Another Gilly recommendation - she is good! :A)

Thanks for the link Marta I will take a look!

Any other 6-12 month toy recommendations that would be a good gift? Around £50-£75?

Have heard amazing things about this

I know it's pricey but it's supposed to be amazing and do years and years :)

Moneypenny if you keep an ebay watch out for jumperoos seller belmont-park seems toget a lot of 'new-other' ones, they must be returns of the 'box opened but never used' type. Got mine from there at just under £60 and it was new.

Still looking for a high chair :( I loved the idea of the lobster because it was portable and easy to store away, but apparently it's only suitable for tables up to 95mm and mine is 100mm :(:(. My living room is not very big but I want something safe that I can use asap. Are booster chairs good? Is there any foldable high chair that you can recommend? What do you think is the main thing I should think about when shopping for high chairs?

Marta I've got the Ikea Antilop high chair and I can't recommend it highly enough. It doesn't fold, but the legs come off in a second if you wanted to put it away, or take it away with you. And the biggest plus point - its just smooth moulded plastic so no corners to get full or chewed up gunk. Our living room is teeny and absolutely packed, it just slots perfectly in the corner next to the Ikea dining table and between the Ikea bookcase and Ikea storage unit. Yes, I have something of a spending problem when it comes to Ikea :D

    Hi Ladies,

That looks an interesting toy Gilly, never seen anything like it before!

Miserable flippin weather here today, rain and wind! Can't wait for 4.00pm to roll round then 3 days off for me! Hubby's 30th next Sunday so have a family meal planned which I'm looking forward to. I've booked a restaurant and I'm going to take balloons and decorations the night before. Its a joint celebration as he is a twin so should be fun! I've bought him a watch, it cost me a fortune but its what he wants and after the year and a bit we've had, he deserves it!

Anybody got any exciting plans for this weekend?

    xx

Thanks for the suggestions, I like the fact that those two are easily stored away. Anyone has a Stokke Tripp Trapp? My DH likes the wooden look, but I think the price is crazy, maybe from eBay or second hand.
