Thanks for all the tips on London. I have found a website with 2for1 on almost all attractions with train tickets which is just fab :j We are definitely going to do London Eye and maybe Madame Tussauds. We are planning to go see Wicked too, and will try to get the dinner and ticket meal from Lastminute.com. We will do all the usual sight seeing too, as I've only ever been once before and I was quite young so I don't remember much at all.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Gilly - enjoy it! We did Buckingham Palace when we went and enjoyed that (I wanted to see Kate's Wedding dress as that was the exhibition in 2011) - you have to book tickets in advance for that though or turn up on the day and expect tickets to be for later in the day, we went at noon and we got the last tickets of the day which were for 4pm hence killing a few hours hanging around the parks as it was a glorious day!
marta - thanks I'll keep an eye outWish I could remember where I'd seen it!

Hello, I'm a long time lurker and reader of this thread, but this is my first post. Just after some advice really.
My LO is 17 weeks old today, and for the last 6 weeks or so, has been being more and more sick after his feeds. He has 6ozs every 4 hours, sleeping through from 10.30-7.30.
I've spoken to the health visitor, who advised 5ozs every 3 hours, which resulted in a very unhappy boy, so went back to his normal routine, which is one he has fallen into himself.
Spoke to HV again today, who has said that some babies are just sick, and that I could start weaning him next week, as the food should weigh heavier on his stomach.
However, I am reluctant to do this as I don't think he is ready for weaning at all yet, he's showing no signs.
Wondering if anyone has any advice?0 -
Hmmm is he upset or annoyed when he's sick? Is he gaining weight ok? If he doesn't seem bothered by it and is gaining ok, I wouldn't be concerned, yes it's not nice, but if he's not distressed I'd try not to be. If he isn't showing any signs of being weaned I wouldn't bother until you feel he's ready but it really is up to youThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Hi and welcome. Congrats on the birth of your LO. I have an 18 week old that had the same symptoms a couple of weeks ago, although she is predominately BF. went to dr who diagnosed reflux and giving her gaviscon stopped it instantlyI can't see how food would fix it and personally I wouldn't wean early as youve no guarantee it will stop the sick after the milk and their milk, feeds won't reduce that much in the short term.

my 7 week old was always sick, had all the signs of reflux, gaviscon did nothing for her - she obviously didn't have reflux, she just (a) didn't know when she was full and (b) was sick more when her digestive system was full i.e. when there hadn't been a dirty nappy - that was just her though, some babies can go days and days without having a dirty nappy and be fine, but if she hadn't pooed for more than 24 hours she was sick after every single feed! Sometimes quite a lot.
In fact, come to mention it at 19 weeks now we aren't faring a great deal better, she has a bit of solid food here and there as just started to wean her but that hasn't stopped the sick. Surprised HV would have suggested that! They are usually divils for saying "wean at 6 months"
I do find if she has a good burp about 5 minutes in (breastfed) and then another at the end she was less sick. Less with the bottle as the MAM bottles really reduce wind so just one (two max) burps per bottle.
What bottles are you using? I had Avent with a newborn teat, she hoovered the milk down then threw it all back up, switched to MAM and didn't have any problem. HV suggested the newborn teat was too small for her on the Avent. Don't know what it was but switching definitely worked as she became able to keep a bottle down. Good luck finding a solution!0 -

Please do not accept the line that some babies are just sick a lot.
I say this from the perspective of someone who has two children with reflux. One screamed night and day for 18 months and the other fed at 3 hourly intervals through the day in between sleeps and slept peacefully for 12 hours every night. The medications prescribed didn't do much for either of them as they are both completely dairy intolerant. Both grew and gained weight well above average so it was very hard to get a GP to take my concerns and observations seriously.
My youngest who slept all of the time and only cried for the first time in her life aged 15 months when she hit a toy against the side of her head was eventually referred to a specialist when she absolutely refused solids. It turned out that reflux had already caused damage to her oesophagus that would never have been detected or treated otherwise.
Please keep asking to be referred on to find the root cause as I would hate for anybody to go through what we did. Trust your instincts, if what is happening with your boy is troubling you do your best to have it investigated.0 -
Thanks for the replies. He's happy in himself and is gaining weight steadily, although he has dropped from the top of his percentile to the bottem.
We use tommee tippee bottles, he's still on the size one teats, we did try the variflow but he struggled with these, so went back to size one.
Think I will see how we get on over the next couple of days, as it seems to have been at its worst the last two days, and then maybe go to the GP.
Really want to hold off on the weaning as I don't think he's ready yet.
Thanks again0 -

I have posted on this thread a few times about it and also the previous parenting thread. Tommee Tippee are considered one of the worst offenders when it comes to causing excess wind and vomiting. Mam bottles tend to be far better for this. They are quite often available in TKMaxx at very good prices. I used them for my daughter since she was eight weeks old until she finished with formula feeding. They helped massively with the wind and associated discomfort but did not cure the reflux. She is now 22 months old and taking a cocktail of medications but her reflux is mostly under control and she now eats like the proverbial horse!0
