Cake (and anyone else with twins!) I have a friend who is expecting twins. Any particular tips or resources or products you've found useful? TIA x

Tamba.org.uk is a great place for info and tips. The products I couldn't live without, especially for the 1st few months were the swing chairs and my double breastfeeding pillow, though I got mine from amazon.com as even with overseas shipping it worked out cheaper.

Practically everything I bought was from Ebay. Including bundles of clothes. Lots of twin clothes on there too if they are being dressed the same.

Cant really think of things off the top of my head! If you want to know anything else just ask :D

    Congrats 2ba3c :j

Marta, thanks for your reply. Definitely constipated. Solid and dry here . The last few dirty nappies they've almost rolled off . We gave them orange juice in their water as recommended and it seems to have worked :T. Mollie had no problems last night thankfully, was absolutely dreading it. She's still really bad with cold, but can cope with that

MT, I did wonder if it was teething but have been checking her gums and no sign.

Ps. I'm 36 and I tried a bagel for the 1st time last year. Hated it! :p

    I've got twins :hello:

    Take iron, lots of it.

Expect them to arrive all being well at 35/36 weeks (hospital were going to induce me at 36 weeks but my twins are 9 now so I am on old info)

You won't automatically be offered a c section (i had mine normally, people nearly always assume you get a section because its twins)

Oh and pack for a week at least in hospital. Hopefully you wont be there that long but be prepared. I was in two weeks.

Two weeks!? Was it them or you that made the stay so long?
It's likely she'll have a caesar, she's not in the UK and the doctors there don't do normal births for twins if they can help it.

    Thanks both!
    the swing chairs
    Which ones did you get?

Also, how are you parenting - routine (eg Gina Ford) or attachment or anything inbetween? I think she's worried about getting them into a routine asap so is reading Gina Ford atm.

Some of it was me, they took me in after my waters broke and were waiting for labour to start, it didn't and after 3 days I said if they weren't inducing me i was going home, on the train. The mw's face was priceless :rotfl:

Now they always induce within 24 hours of waters breaking to prevent infection!

The rest of it was waiting for them to start putting weight on.

Well done cake4brains on breastfeeding. There was no way I could have done that.

I have never done forced routines, they have always settled into their own fairly quickly. Babies haven't read the books and its too easy to get stressed if things don't go the way the book says.

Ohh the kids will be back at school then too so will be easier with just little one. :D do you know what time it opens? I have to drop the kids off at school but could get there about 9.30am. Hopefully that won't be too late to miss out on the good stuff! :o

I don't do routines either - we're all on demand here atm, but I'm lucky in that I have one easy baby :)

Forgot to ask, were yours (and Cake's) identical or not?
