Hello everyone,
Two weeks ago my computer died and I only managed to get it sorted and returned yesterday - good to be back!! I really missed everyone on OS, can't get online at work (personal use not allowed), and couldn't get to the library to get online there!
I've read yesterday's and Friday's threads, CONGRATULATIONS to Moggins on becoming a grandmother.
RacyRed, it was good to read an update on the coots, I do so enjoy Springwatch on MSE. Have you considered writing occasional nature articles for your local paper? I'm sure people would love your great observations of the antics and adventures on the river/canal bank.
Today I'm going to be filing paperwork - a real bugbear of mine, but today's the day.... I am looking forwards to that virtuous feeling when it's done!
I was given a huge chicken yesterday, so roasted it and had some of it last night with broccoli, green beans and carrots - yummy. Today I'll make soup with the carcass, freeze some meal-sized prtions of the rest of the meat, and reckon on chicken salad for my main meal today. I've a couple of bananas looking a bit sad so will make the scrumptious banana flapjacks again (from the OS index). I'll also make some Irish soda bread using spelt flour and oats.
My electricity bills seem a bit high so I'm going to run down the 'overflow' freezer in the garage and then switch it off. I put it back into use in the autumn of 2005 when my DB, SIL & DN came to stay for 4 weeks from Oz. Somehow I have continued to use it, but as I'm now only cooking for me, I can easily do without it. So it's 'empty the freezer' month - good for MSE savings too:D
Oh, the day with my ex-OH and DD's went off fine. He has taken all the family photos to scan onto disks and I've been promised the originals back. We had a great time looking through them all and remembering various hols and days out (mainly picnics) in different parts of Scotland and Wales - hols were self-catering cottages and youth hostels for the most part. Whatever ultimately didn't work for us as a couple, it was good to be reminded that the girls had happy times and a lot of simple fun when they were younger.
Do families still do picnics? They were a mainstay of both my and my children's childhoods, to the beach or by streams in the summer, and hot soup in the car in the winter, after a bracing walk!!
Have a good day wherever you are, and happy OS-ing.
Hugs

Hi Everyone!!
I'm back from Florida and back at work - unfortunately. I had the best time with bf and I'm now planning to make the move abroad with him
He's leaving me for the summer to work in the US - he leaves in two and a half weeks time, so I'll be heartbroken when he goes.
I saw loads over there, and I'm very brown now. I don't want to be back at work. I was so happy over there. I'm going to start looking into moving over there as it's what we both want. So any tips/advice would be great
I came home to find a cheque from YouGov waiting for me - along with car insurance renewal reminder!!!:rotfl:
I'm planning at least one more holiday to america this year, maybe two, so I need to start saving. I really don't want to mess up this relationship as I'm just so happy with him.
Hope everyone's been ok and still is!
Scuzz, follow your heart. I did and I have NEVER regretted it. There's an old saying:-
"T'is better to regret the things you have done, than to regret the things you haven't."
Mainly because you'll always end up wondering about 'what might have been'. So, you go girl!!!
print this slogan off and put it where you can see it......USA - HERE I COME!!!

Good morning everyone,
Scuzz - welcome back, was just wondering yesterday when you were due back - someone else went to the states at the same time, (cant remember who!!) but hope they are back safe and sound too.
Catzine - as one returns, another goes-have a lovely time, i really must start saving for us to go again, we love it over there!!!
I also remember Mary, Mungo and Midge, along with Bagpuss, it was my favourite!!!!
Well, had a lie in today, although i didnt sleep well, but i feel ok. Have DSs football presentation afternoon today, have to be there between 1 and 2, im taking crisps, and we all take a wrapped 'present' for the lottery. Its just a way of raising funds for the boys - a good time for them and they give out a few trophys as well. Its not the 'proper' club one (just the under 10s) that one is in a couple of weeks time. But its a nice get together, just hoping the rain stays off so the boys can go outside and play footie!!!!
It is cloudy at the moment, and the forecast was rain, but we may be lucky - i was hoping to walk over (i could also have a drink then!!) but if it starts raining we would prob have to take the car, a little to far to walk in the rain.
Right, i need a shower and to get dressed. Hope everyone has a lovely day.
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Scuzz, you sound happier than you have done for ages. Glad you had a great time.

Morning all..............a dull morning here and windy with it.........I see on the news they still have not found the little girl......and people are asking the question...........one of the presenters on TV tried to say this morning that it was a safe community, but it wasn't was it? the child was taken.........
Nothing from the US...........OH is wanting to plant beans, wants to leave them in the apartment whilst we are away...............have told him he can do them tomorrow and bring them back then, no way am I working round trays full of compost trying to get ready to go away. I bought him a cold frame this week, but he doesn't want to leave them in there in case we get a lot of sun whilst we are away.............so it looks like we will be leaving them in the kitchen sink on a thick layer of wet newspaper.
I have to bake whilst I am cooking the supper, need cake, scones and a loaf to take with us.........chicken for supper, will be taking some of it with us. A chicken does us for 3 meals...............
Off for a coffee and start going through the clothes and pack them as far as I can...............Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Morning all! I was up at 4 too but got too tired to post then so went back to bed for a few more zzzs, was woken up at 7.30 by OH who 'couldn't sleep' and offered to get me a coffee (he forgot  ) so I got up. Have had a delicious organic grilled brekkie, yum, yum, and I made my own coffee....
Cooler and cloudy here today so I'm glad I got round to finally putting out some of my veggie plants yesterday (I'm a fair weather gardener). Got HEAPS and HEAPS of ironing to do today  - I'm fed up with the never ending piles growing in my utility room, wish the ironing fairy would pay me a visit.
Thanks to those sending best wishes to my little cat, I think she's feeling a little better today. Thanks, Twink, for the suggestion of sardines to tempt her, unfortunately she's incredibly fussy and just stalked off when I tried her on thoseIn the past few days I've tried an organic chicken breast poached in organic stock, a tin of tuna, various pouches of cat food, cheese, you name it, all have been rejected out of hand
However she did ask for food last night and managed a couple of mouthfuls of Felix (I've run out of other options!) and she ate a little more during the night so I think she's maybe taken a turn for the better. Fingers crossed.
Well done PP on finishing that essay! I think you're amazing, managing to produce coursework on top of all the other stuff you have to deal with. Hope you get a nice high mark.
Hope those with hangovers feel better soon
Have a great day everyone

Morning to all those who've already posted, and to all those who post after me!
Just popped in from the Concreterey Face to have a coffee. HYesterday, DH levered up the huge bits of Crock (concrete masquerading as rock) that I had uncovered last week, so this morning I've been doing more excacating. Decided to call it a day today, as I think I have uncovered part of a bicycle frame, and I just can't face uncovering it all today!
Will be having an easy day today, as Monday is normally my day for doing serious housework.
Dinner tonight will be Gamebird Pie. Haven't made it before, and I'm not sure that I'm going to like woodpigeon and partridge. The recipe I have is a bit weird. Mix pork mince withg whisky, sour cream, cranberries and cheddar, and put in a buttered pie dish. Put the mixed gamebird breast on the top. Cover with pastry and bake.
I've always precooked pie fillings before. Never mind, you have to try these things.
Bother, need to go to town and get some cranberries.
Well, have finished my coffee, off to have a quick tidy up.
<Congratulations> to those who need congratulating for essays and suchlike; <HUGS> to anyone who is suffering from lack of sleep, is sad, unwell, or would just like one. <Happy Holiday> to those lucky enought ot be going away, and <welcome back> to those who have returned.
Smokey, where are you?
Catch yuo all later xxx

Hi – popped back in with a coffee. Have cleared up the mountain of debris from last night’s successful dinner party and hangover slowly dissolving helped by a big bowl of porridge, freshly-squeezed OJ and some berries. WM on and think it’s going to stay dry so will put that on the line.
PENPINCHER – well done on finishing your essay. Good luck with it.
TRIGGER – good luck with the interview
LADYGRIM – slow down! Enjoy your new ‘toys’!
CAZZIEBO – thanks for the hangover sympathy
SCUZZ – glad you had a good time. And GO, GIRL, GO!
TRU – hope your hangover subsides! I could not cope with two consecutive ones!
CSARINA – not long now. Have a great time!
FLITTERSNOOP – (((hugs))) to kitty
DANNAHAZ – couldn’t you hire a miner?! Seriously, your concretery sounds like heavy work – couldn’t you hire someone just to get the rest of it excavated? It might only take an afternoon for someone with the right equipment. He might even look like Colin Firth and you could gaze at his rippling sweaty body while he’s out there!
Well, going to put my make-up on to make me look a bit more human, I hope. Comfort food is the order of the day today – HM soup for lunch with the rest of the HM loaf, and Spanish Omelette for tea with DH will make because his omelettes are fab! Going to walk up to the paper shop for some fresh air – it’s only fifteen minutes away there and back so I think my hangover will cope with that!
I’ve been asking about SMOKY for the last few days – I do hope she’s alright. May be she’s had computer probs or something. It’s so unusual not to hear from her.
Will call in later – have a great Sunday and (((hugs))) to all.

Yes, I probably could. Reason I haven't is that I'm a bit of a masochist and although I don't like doing these jobs I get a tremendous feeling of satisfaction when I've done it. And I like to think it's good for me to do something quite physical.
I'll see how it goes. At the moment I can see progress each time so I feel pleased with each day's efforts. .he moment I stop feeling satisfied, I'll call someone in.
Thanks for the suggestion0
