You need to ignore credit agency scores they mean nothing .

If you have a low score then you will be refused by every bank. Thats a fact, They DO use them aswell as their own in house system. So you actually have 2 lots to pass.

That's just being a prudent lender.

It does appear to be true that they can be more 'picky' about their customers than the high street banks, but I'm not sure that means they 'seriously suck'.

No - you said that Bank of Scotland were one of the big four. It's actually RBS, which is where izools was correcting you.

RBS = Royal Bank Of Scotland

    This post is incorrect.

Credit reference agencies calculate two different scores: one that they will provide to the customer, and one that they will provide to the bank.

If the agency say that you have a high/low score, then this does not directly mean that you have a high/low chance of acceptance at banks. It is the score they provide to the banks that determines (part of) this - and that score is secret.

I'd suggest that you re-read your post.

You said Bank of Scotland, not RBS.

Come on then what is correct?

From my own experience and this is only what i have experienced personally, Hence why i can 100% say i am correct (with my findings on my own applications anyway) is that when i had a poor to fair rating on my CRA then every application was rejected. As soon as i waited and got my CRA rating to excellent EVERY application was accepted. Apart from Nationwide... Which you already know about haha

So i believe that without a good CRA rating first of all then you don't have much of a chance to get accepted. After all, they wouldn't be there just to show you nice colours of red to green for no reason.

EDIT: Sorry for hijacking your thread, I'll stop now

So you 'know' 100% that what you say is correct, despite it being based on a sample size of 1 (you).

I work in the industry. And can assure you that many of your posts today have been factually incorrect. You've jumped to conclusions that simply are not true.

    Yes it's 100% correct.

Here's how i see it and what i have personally witnessed throughout my 10 year struggle, Everyone is different obviously but this is the info i have hard gained. you can take it as a pinch of salt but this has worked for me and i continue to use it and give this info to others who it also works for:

    1. Your credit reference score mean absolutley nothing to lenders, They don't see a score, It is only there for you (me) to see how your accounts are being run, If its a high score you're doing right, If its a low score you need to check further into your report to find out why, then you can alter if by correcting the problems in the report.

    2. No matter how you score on the credit report you can still be declined credit if the lenders in house system has previous adverse credit info about you that is not on your current credit report, like bankruptcy, which has come off your credit report but will always be in the back system of the lenders that you where dealing with during the bankruptcy.

    3. If you have a low credit score then you're screwed, It won't even get to the lenders in house system as they check the credit report first and just decline you.
