I've reached a milestone ........ ive been smoke free for a whole week!! Woohoo!!!! Also went to doctors and he gave me the next 3 weeks worth of patches on a prescription for 7.10. Cheaper than going to the pharmacy which was what i did for the last week (15 quid a box). Worked out i would have smoked in the region of 140 fags in the last week alone  .

I feel very proud of myself.

Well done to everyone else still struggling uphill with this awful addiction. Im still not out of the woods yet but am feeling better day by day.:D

I hope you're very proud of yourself, you certainly should be. As should everyone else who is celebrating any sort of milestone from an hour to a year, you're doing well so keep it up!

Lewki, the next time you get a chance you should head out with the gossip mongers and let them be jealous, you're working very hard to be smoke free you're allowed to lord it over the peoplewho are still enslaved and maybe you'll encourage some others to stop as well!

    OK here it goes

My name is Rachel and I am a smoker! (sits down)

Regular 20 a day Mayfair Dark girl here who has been smoking for 23 years.
My reasons for quitting are same as everyones - money, antisocial, money, smelly, money, health, etc
These are furthered by the fact I want to apply for a new job but it pays £3000 less than my current one - the joy of the voluntary sector - and I reckon I can afford it if I stop smoking (plus I get healthier etc etc)
I have also started to notice increasing pins and neddles in hands and feet - DUH circulation is screwed.
Anyway - 4 fags left - now I could wait til Dr's appt next friday in order to get patches and start or I could smoke these and stop - giving me headstart on patches.

I dont know if this makes sense to others but for me it is like I hate being a smoker but quite enjoy smoking - can you tell I am Irish!!

PS Where did you all find link to allow you to keep tabs on time stopped, money saved etc?
    LBM Feb 2010 £62,700 Total Debt Jan 11 [STRIKE]£49,403.84[/STRIKE] £47,530.32.
    (CC/LOAN = [STRIKE]36,378.98[/STRIKE] 35668.47. O/D = [STRIKE]1255.32[/STRIKE] 1212.35/[STRIKE]1999.78[/STRIKE] 1934.52, BUS = [STRIKE]9769.76[/STRIKE] 8714.98)
    Challenge = Debt at 31/01/12 = £25k. 2011 Payments = £1,944.19/£24,403.84

There is no point in negative thought, it takes up time and energy which could be used in a positive, happy way!

Read through the thread if you get a chance, and go back a page or two and click on the Max Kirsten link and watch the video, but not while you're eating

Stick around, there's great support here

    Way to go, red :T :T :T

When you need to rant - come one here and do it. We've all been there and done it and sympathise entirely

If you get to next Friday without a cig DO NOT GET PATCHES. The nicotine will have gone from your body (takes 3/4 days) and patches will just start putting it back in again

Good luck, however you choose to do it. We'll all be here for you (at some stage or other :D)....
