Good Evening all Non Smokers, or very soon to be 'non smokers',

Well done everyone for almost (nearly there!) getting thru another day :T :T .

My Pharmasist will have my champix prescription in tommorrow so depending on when I collect it I will be starting my 'journey' either tommorrow or Saturday...

LeedsLass - I hope your feeling better, I have heard that Champix can have that effect on people :(, but your doing very well to stay off the fags :T.

I suspect that when I quit I will be having alot of early nights!! to try to make the days go quicker... :shhh:

I must say I am looking forward to the day when I don't have smoking related heath concerns in my head.... and my skin looks brighter!. Oh yea - and when my child is 'off my case' because I have quit :o

    Good Luck everyone :D

    xx

    Hi everyone

LeedsLass - glad your feeling better - keep your chin up
Honeypie - congrats on starting your journey
LP - not sure about shakes but i suspect thats the nicotine withdrawal - how scary is nicotine, i didnt really think about how powerful a drug it was until i tried to stop
Richard - Hope your having a good evening - your nearly at 48 hours -ignore the bad voice and listen to the good one!

I was at smoking clinic today - my C02 reading hadnt changed much which i was disappointed about as i am definately smoking less but my advisor said not to stress about that because at my next visit in two weeks i would notice a huge change - will have stopped by then (fingers crossed) Feeling really tired and started to remember dreams i am having so think its prob the disturbed sleep thats making me feel like this - could be the scorching weather as well though. Have had a successful day - only smoked 12 fags instead of my 20-25 a day before, want to get to under 10 tommorrow.

Quit date is still 17th which is Day 14 but im aiming for Day 10 which will be 13th

Hope everyone has been enjoying the hot weather
    :j Stopped smoking - 2nd Jan 09:j

I felt that good on the way to work this morning that I almost stopped for a pack of cigarettes to celebrate, and then I remembered I'd quit.:D :D

    Hi Kirsty,

Yep, passed the 48 hour mark with only major stresses.  I was working until 9:00pm last night so we risked a bottle of wine with tea. A quick walk and straight to bed and never really missed having a smoke.

CO2 readings can be affected by the level of pollution in the air, which increase in hot weather, so that probably was a fluke reading.

    Hi Jo,

I have read the Allen Carr book, but not for a couple of years, and it makes some very good points. It was probably the influence of the book that made me decide to try this time without using any NRT.

I keep telling myself that the only way to quit is to break the nicotine habit, and if I do that by just stopping "cold turkey" then it'll happen a lot sooner.
