Well Done Richard - almost a full Day - I hope your meeting helped take your mind of the cravings
I am hoping to get out at Lunch time to get to the pharmacy to get my Champix prescription, then I am soon joinin all you guys on the quest to be a fully fledged 'Non Smoker'...
Good Luck today everyone...
Hi HoneyPie,
Ah, that means I won't be the newbie anymore.:D
Funnily enough, I found when I was speaking in the meeting that I didn't have to keep clearing my throat, and I found that I was very clear headed, even though I still feel dizzy.
I can actually feel my fingers and toes tingling, which must be the effect of improved blood circulation;scary.

Richard well done, you're doing fantastic, try your best to keep your mind elsewhere, if you must think about smoking set yourself small targets, for example, I''ll not smoke until lunchtime, when lunchtime comes around tell yourself you'll not smoke til later in the afternoon, keep challenging yourself and you'll come through this!
Hi doltage,
I started a new job a couple of months ago and had to have a medical as part of the induction process. No problems there apart from high blood pressure.  I bought a blood pressure monitor that was on promotion at Lloyds Chemists (I think) and sure enough, it was consistently high; sometimes as high as moderate to high hypertension.
In some respects that wasn't surprsing given that I'd started a new job that was proving very difficult to get on top of, but I never got a reading that was in the normal section, even at weekends.
I did a reading this morning, and it was "slap bang" in the middle of the normal range, just at the high end of the "Ideal". That was the first time I'd ever got close to that, and after only being stopped for approximately 18 hours; defintely a motivating moment.:D

That's really good Richard .. it always helps when you actually see the changes that are taking place!! .. my big moment was when I blew a 1 in the carbon monoxide test thingy ... the nurse grinned and said I was officially a non smoker:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0

Hi Waspy,
It does help when you can see some tangible results from your endeavours.:cool:There's no "telling fibs" to yourself or anybody else when you know the monitor is going to catch you out.

Hi everyone, I've decided to stop smoking, tried the champix tablets, they didn't work for me, so now using the inhalator which is brill! I had 1 cig on monday, 3 yesterday and don't want any today, or tommorow or the day after!!! I'm at the non smoking service tommorow so hoping my carbon monoxide level will be next to nothing! its usually between 7 and 12.
Heres to stopping smoking and saving saving saving!!!!! x0 -
My Tangle has just arrived, i can see me getting some use out of it on sunday (my quit day) I am on day 6 of champix today, not feeling the urge to stop smoking yet though, maybe in a couple more days, i think people have said around day 8 they have lost their desire to smoke. Fingers crossed.
Well done everyone, keep it up.
For the past 2 days, i have been smoking menthol ciggies, not something i usually do but you smoke even less of them.0 -

(2nd attempt, first one disappeared,so mad  )
Hi Guys,
Been a lurker for ages, decided it was time to register. Here goes.
I started on Champix just over 2 weeks ago now, stopped smoking last Thursday. Im just worried about how im feeling. Im really down all the time, crying at the stupidest thing (britains got talentfor example) and once i start i cant stop. Ive lost all interest in everything, including in the bedroom department. Everything and everyone really gets on my nerves. My work is being affected, i got pulled for something horrendous today. Smoking is constantly on my mind. I gave up beacuse of the cost but if i could afford it, id smoke (that sounds terrible)
This is my 3rd attempt at quitting. First time i stopped for 10 months and felt great, like id never smoked before. 2nd time was around a year ago, used patches for about a month and felt as bad then as i do now. My partner, who has never smoked, keeps asking me whats wrong but feel i cant tell him its due to me stopping smoking, he wont understand. Its hard to explain it to someone who has never smoked. He thinks we have problems in our relationship because im so down and thinks its because of him why im like what i am.
We missed our cessation clinic this week because of the Bank Holiday. I couldnt tell my counsellor anyway, id just be a blubbering wreck.
I just want to feel normal, what ever that is. Do i just need to "pull myself together"? Is it all in my head??
Sorry for rambling.0 -
Evening All!
Wish I could get MSE during the day when everyone seems to be around. Feel like I'm talking to myself during the eve! Oh well, nothing new there then! :rotfl:
Welcome Carlyt  and Richard S - wow, the blood pressure changes really bring home some of the things smoking does to us, or should I say did
So, day 10 of no smoking for me. I've upped my fruit intake to 3 pieces a day and also increased the amount of water I'm drinking. I have what look like burns on my tongue..most odd, but then I seem to have had other odd changes, so I'm not worrying too much. Could be caused by the Champix giving a very dry mouthNot sure how that'd create a burn, but never mind, more interested in getting rid of them now.
Well done on everyone's progress and congrats Little Pickle on your Weekiversary. Feedumall...what can I say but :rotfl: !!
Have a good evening!Back on the DFW Wagon:

Welcome aboard LeedsLass and hugs to you.
Have you checked your Champix leaflet to see how many of things you're experiencing maybe side effects of Champix. This might help you to work out if the other things are linked to the loss of "your little stick friend" (as my Counsellor likes to call it).
Other than suggesting you contact your Counsellor, which I appreciate you don't feel able to at the moment, I'd suggest some deep breaths to relax and think through your next steps. I cry at Britain's Got Talent too, so that must be quite normal/hormonal/female thing.
Does your partner know you've given up smoking? It might help if he could provide reassurance and support to your quit and in turn bring you closer and brush away his relationship concerns. You could then work together on the other areas being affected. Two heads better than one and all that. Is there anyone at work that you could confide in? I think its important to have support in all areas of your life if you can to help you through the early days especially.
Hopefully some more people will come along with ideas too. Sending you "pick me up" vibes xxBack on the DFW Wagon:
