    you rascal! :D

    Morning all. :hello:

Well done to those going in to day 2! :T It is the first step of a great journey.

TOTD : to those who are building up to stopping.... One of the stop smoking books I read was basically an aversion therapy manual :o. Had loads of not very nice things in to turn your mind off cigarettes. One of them was to take a drag on a cigarette as normal, but then to cough the smoke out. Try it. Just once _pale_

exactly the same for me but once you increase the dose the temptation just seems to go. my mrs, my sis and I have all quit on these amazing tabs

I'm glad you said that! I'm a strong-willed person generally, so I will also challenge and test - wasn't sure if it was me or not, now I know it's Champix, I'm pleased about that.

TNG - thanks for the tip on the book and ewww...I've coughed out smoke before and it is disgusting!

feedumall - well done and I can relate to the keeping it a secret thing. I think my boss has sussed me though ...usually when she says something can't be done, I prove her wrong! So where as last year, she was confident I could quit, she casually mentioned last week after I'd just been outside for a puff, that she thought I'd always be a smoker. Right, that's it, I thought..so I have an added impetus. I've not told anyone, apart from the lady behind the fag counter in Tesco's, who said "See you next week" and I replied "I hope not, I'm quitting"!

When I walk past the fag kiosk now I always check the prices of the brand I used to smoke, and when I see they've gone up again have a little gloat to myself!!

That is such a good point...also tends to be a queue of people who aren't even buying fags, but paying for a few items in a basket  . That'll be me next week then! :D

Excellent motivatinal tip shinyhead - I reckon we'll see them at £6 a packet before too long. I remember when they tipped £1 a packet of 20 and said I'd never pay that much!

  • :hello: :hello:

    Hiya guys!!

How we all doing? Seems to be going well for most :T and if by any chance it isn't going well for you (we all know how hard the weekends can be!) let us know...you might get your wrists slapped but you will get much much more in encouragement to carry on.

There seem to be a few new 'faces' around (or returnees) Hello everyone :D

feedum - about this time next week you will be thinking about your plans for the big 'reveal' and telling your family that you are no longer a smoker :T still find it difficult to think that they haven't noticed but it will be fab if they haven't :D

...if nothing else they might have spotted you dancing around singing '18 ciggs on the table la la la' ;) :j :T

shinyhead - not seen you around for a while - how's it going?

redkelly - well done on day 1 - the tiredness is strange (coupled with not being able to sleep in my case lol) but you will get through it.

I am now on day 36, over 5 weeks. Doesn't time fly when you are having fun :T

    Hi MFD,
Yeah, been busy at work but still not smoking! I've actually lost track but I think it's now week 3 without any patches! There have been times when I could have murdered a fag but I've not given in. I knew someone over 20 years ago who gave up and they said that after a while they couldn't have one. This time I finally know what they mean.
Well done on passing the 5 week mark!!

  • Hi all can I join? I'm planning on quitting smoking tomorrow. Just can't do it anymore. I've been smoking for 18 years and have tried to quit several times in the past and never succeeded but this time I'm determined to stick at it. We really can't afford it anymore. my husband and I are up to our eyes in debt, we would like to move from our flat to a house with a garden for our baby son to play in and the extra money we spend on fags would pay the extra rent for a house!! So tomorrow's the day to quit.
