THAT'S A LOVELY STORY LMTP..very heartwarming esp the hugs from your little sister...bet that made it all worthwhile....kids can be so wonerful
  • you're not allowed to pm me now I know you're a man ab - what would my hubby say ;)

Taxi - sounds like you are doing well - good luck to you - remember, if we can all do it then you can too...

My nurse was talking to me yesterday about the 'little men' as she calls them...apparently they start calling to you when you think you have mastered it and saying:

'just one mfd, come on, you'll enjoy it, and you have quit now so you've done the hard bit so just one won't hurt'

If anyone hangs around in the arms you may have seen I am a big fan of the programme 'Lost' and all I could think of was the two 118 men - you know the ones that look like the chuckle brothers but worse  and I am thinking - if one of the 118 men starts calling to me it will send me running...in the other direction :rotfl:

Where's bellie and mumzy hiding today - hope you are doing okay!

Happy pedigree day  (I only had 2 pints!!)

Hi I am here . Been getting my house ready for my dad to visit for his birthday. He lives in Saudi Arabia but has a week off as he is turning 50. So I have been a mad cleaning demond today. But I am still not smoking:j. Its been 1 week, 1 day and 2 hours, woo hoo!!

Hope every one had a good day as I have only had a chance to skim the thread. Will catch up while watching Desperate Housewives.

  • Hi all and well done on the great efforts.

Week nine smoke free now. :j

Had a slight setback last Saturday; went for my usual weekly chat with the pharmacist and to collect this weeks microtabs and he was off for personal reasons. Had a moment of horror at having to pay for them then remembered I had 1 "emergency" box stashed away at home. Looks like this box is going to last 'til next Saturday so the outcome may be very positive as I am obviously cutting down on the nicotine support.

To all who are just starting out, keep going. It's a long journey but can be done with will-power and support and is really worth it in the long run. It will get easier, promise, and the tastes and smells you can enjoy if you are a heavy smoker are amazing (25/30 a day for 27 years).

Good luck all and keep posting

Been on the patches now since yesterday lunchtime and it has worked really well. Not had any cravings for a fag so far and no mood swings either. Took the advice I'd been given to eat carrots, drinking OJ and relaxing hot bath. The patch were supposed to be on 24hrs but I removed it before I went to bed and applied a new on this morning. Noticed that I opened the wrong box and started on the lowest patches.:o Since they seem to work well I might be able to kick this disgusting habit a bit quicker than I thought...

Reading your posts I'm so impressed with you all. I look forward to the day when I can say I've been able to go a whole day or even a week without any nicotine.

Excellent GP! It made me grin with you opening the wrong end, but... meant to be perhaps! I'm so pleased you're doing the things that help so much, keep it up and you'll soon be declining fags with "I don't smoke thanks!" Keep going..one day at a time and you'll be seeing clearly!

    All the very best, Sue.

    Hi everyone
