The Giving Up Smoking Thread!!
Comments

Hi everybody, God am I glad to have found this thread!!!!
Me and DH gave up smoking just over a week ago on Tuesday 12th Feb. Both of us were very heavy smokers - 25 per day for me, 50-60 per day for him:eek:
Both of us have smoked for over 30 years (hangs head in shame)
We registered on our docs 'Stop Smoking' programme and I've been prescribed an inhalator (seems to be helping) and he's been given tabs to put under his tongue - though in actual fact he's just gone 'cold turkey'.
We're both determined to do it:j But I'm finding today (Day 9) really difficult and the desire to 'have a fag' is overwhelming.
I'm stuck to the PC for the next few days working (work from home) and I'm so used to having a ciggie in my hand that I don't feel as though I can concentrate without one (how sad is that).
I WON'T HAVE ONE, I WON'T HAVE ONE, I WON'T HAVE ONE, I WON'T HAVE ONE, I WON'T HAVE ONE:rotfl:
Sorry for the moan, just wanted to offload and share with people who understand what it's like:D TBH after the first couple of days it hasn't been that bad up until today:mad:
Keep up the good work everyone - I guess nothing worth doing or having is ever easy (and I so want to be smoke free) xx

hi all,
well I've done it again- am such a failure... sorry all.
If I have the odd one does that make me a smoker again?? I'm fine most of the time but when I have a few drinks I can't help but want one, then I can go another week again without being bothered. Well I've owned up and I'm sorry.

Basilcat- ditto.
Makes me feel gross in the morning. But great the night before.
I dont know if it makes it worse because the nicotine is still in your body for 4 days a week (based on getting p$%$£ once a week?). I'm really hoping this neil casey book works on changing my sub conscious thoughts, cos rational thoughts do not exist when I drink. And now I think I'm putting too much pressure on poor ole neil c. Aah!!!!Compulsive Spendaholic #150 -

Well, I managed to get through yesterday, although I had to go to bed early!
I went to the doctors this morning to get my second pack of Champix. I saw the nurse instead and she was great. When I said I hadn't had a cigarette since Sunday she was jumping up and down and clapping her hands...made me feel great.
Today has been a good day so far, not too bad cravings I just feel so so hungry all the time. I have my trusty aniseed balls at the ready though.
annifranakapan...I have a plastic ciggie that I 'play' with when I am on the computer. I bought it from Asda and it had a small stickie thing inside it with what I guess is nicotine. Is this what people call an inhilator or is that something completely different? I did take out the 'thingy' though because I am on Champix, so no nicotine for me but I can 'smoke' away to my hearts content.
A massive well done to everyone, I think going even one day without a cig is a huge acheivement. Thats roughly 20 times not giving into temptation!
Thank you everyone for your support.0 -
