The Giving Up Smoking Thread!!
Comments

I was standing behind someone in the supermarket queue today and she was obviously a smoker because she really stank of it - really horrible - just think we all used to smell like that:eek:
I love it when things like this happen, it proves to us that we have done the right thing and helps us to realise the fact that we are recovering and no longer in need of nicotene
Well, what a day have I had!! I snoozed my alarm so many times this morning so I was rushing around to get the two youngest ready for the childminders and get DD1 to her audition. We had to get a passport photo of her on the way, obviously tesco photo booth wasn't working and, apparently, London underground stations no longer have photo booths in them. I drove completely out of my way to a larger underground station rather than my in the sticks one to find a photo booth, didn't have enough change for the parking ticket machine which meant that when I got DD1 up to London for her audition (which lasted all day) I had to come straight back home to move the car elsewhere then get the train back up to London again
Still, home now, exhausted from walking all around London looking for a shop that would do her some passport photos during her lunchbreak and now gonna veg in front of the telly.
Hope everyone's well??DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

I notice the smell more now I've quit, but no douibt we still all stink coz my OH is still smoking and he does smoke in the house when kids are in bed etc!!! The thing is that because he still smokes he doesn't smell it. Oh well, he may decide he wants to quit at some point.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Hi Everyone
Im sorry - I've failed
im going to write a nice long explanation that is going to justify it in my head but i think my conclusion is that im just weak and not ready to stop.
Basically hubby and i have been married 18months, when we had been married for 2 months he got ill and had loads of problems, we then found out this illness has made him infertile.
We went to a family party on friday and saw SIL1's new baby (1 month old) she is absolutely gorgeous and i was absolutely fine. But it was when hubby was standing there holding her that i NEEDED a cig. CUE WEAK MOMENT ONE
Worst thing is SIL2 is due in 5 weeks and we are both very close to her, we were having a chat and she said that as much as she wants me to be there with her and she wants to tell me everything she doesnt want to because she feels guilty. - CUE WEAK MOMENT 2
Then MIL (who hubby has been arguing with for the last 4 years) was talking to me and FIL and her were saying how lovely it was that we were all talking again but the music was too loud so why didnt we go sit outside and have a cig - CUE WEAK MOMENT 3
Then the aclohol kept flowing and thats it,
I managed to last until last night without buying any but i caved in yesterday.
Im planning to cut down on the cigs and not to buy so many, ive been questioning myself about when i actually need a cigarette and when im just bored which i will keep doing.
Sorry for being rubbish!0 -
aww sorry to hear that puzzled - at the end of the day you have to want to give up as a starting point! Hope you resolve it for yourself. Dont know what you are thinking about re the infertility situation but it its any help if you want to adopt you will have to give up as most agencies now wont place a child under 5 with smokers because of the risk of passive smoking and you have to have given up for a year...if you want advice in this area generally feel free to pm me as its my area of work
Managed not to smoke last night & lungs are starting to give up the gunk!! Lozenges going down nicely but I must get to GP for another pescription tomorrow!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Thanks In Search of Me
We have decided not to adopt or anything at the moment.
I am only 25 (hubby is 32) and we are both very selfish, we like our jobs, our holidays and our lifestyle, we dont want children at the moment and not for a good few years anyway - it was just a moment of suckyness, lol
Im not going to hijack the thread but just wanted to say thanks x0 -
Puzzledbubbles, we all have lapses and glitches along the way, just see it exactly as that and carry on trying
Sat here on tenterhooks at the moment, DH is back from the stag weekend but now in the pub with the lads watching Spurs V Chelsea cup final. They are now in extra time and spurs have just scored, please god let them win, I can't take the misery of DH when spurs lose, it's as though he's going to cry for the rest of the night. This is gonna be a very tense half hour, especially if it goes to penalties :undecidedDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
