  • Never mind Bas, as they say 'tomorrow is another day', it was just half a cig so you must have realised it wasn't the answer before you even got to the end of it.
    Keep going, and keep strong.

Hey Lurkio - is today the day you start running then?
I've got round to buying the running shoes, but that's it so far.
I'm intending to start tomorrow lunchtime (lunchtime meeting today so I can't do it).
Have you downloaded the plan from coolrunning?

Yes, today is the day. I didn't even 'forget' to bring a change of clothes in either :o:o

I have the coolrunning thing pinned up, so today will be some walking and jogging.

Will update progress if still alive :rotfl:

Don't feel bad Bas, it is definitely just a blip, it could happen to any of us, I have nearly been at the point of saying s*d it and lighting up on a few occasions.

You WILL move on and forget it ever happened :D
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

Hey basilcat. There must have been something in the water last night. I too drunk too much, and had 2 ciggies. So your half was great compared me. Don't feel bad. It hasn't made you want to start again has it. I felt horrible this morning I could smell it on me and taste it and it really emphasised how yuck it really is. I'm so weak, it was the eve of my 7th day!

Thanks Bev. But if I'm being honest- after my post last night and I went to my sisters house- I had another one. And another and another etc. Oh yes, I royally F'd it up.

HATE myself today but hey ho. I think I decided oh well I've had one may as well go the whole hog. But I'd had far too much wine.

And I agree- I can taste it, smell it and I feel sick.

The way I see it is, yeah we did f up, BUT at least its over & done with. because I've been really missing it, fighting with myself because I wanted to smoke but knew it was "bad" and now I sort of understand why I have to stop, and now I WANT to as well. Because it did make me feel crap this morning, the smell actually made me sick (don't know for definite actually this couldve just been the after effects of cheap wine!). I'm not gonna beat myself up about it either and NEITHER SHOULD YOU!!!! cos in a funny way its helped us prioritise and hopefuly made us stronger!
  • I've spent quite a lot of today really want a smoke.
    Not sure why.
I went to see a friend yesterday and she was smoking, I spent a couple of hours there, it was quite a small place (boat) so I've figured that I got nicotine into my system again so have been 'withdrawing' again today.
Feel quite irritable and if someone offered me a fag I'd have trouble saying no.

Well, this is a big (and sad) change from the positivity of recent times.......

Bas - what can I say? Ok it was a bigger blip than just half a fag - but it was a blip nonetheless. Don't for one second think that you are back at squre one. If you were swimming the channel and decided to give up half a mile from the French coast, you wouldn't turn round and go back to the UK, would you? Renew your efforts and determination and think positive!!!!

Bev - Absolutely the right attitude. Well done!!!!

Boatie - I think you're right. this is what non-smokers go through ALL the time with secondary smoking. They have 'withdrawal symptoms' too, but they don't equate that slight hungry/uneasy feeling with wanting a cigarette. It will take time, but your brain will eventually break that link. Until then, accept it for what it is and move on, strengthened by the thought that you sat in a confined space with a smoker and DIDN'T HAVE ONE!!!! Well done

I really hope I haven't scared JoeHel off - this is EXACTLY when she's needed the most..... :o
