    Hiya all.
Diamond the craving will go, and coming on here to post a message is one of the things i do when i feel like i want one. Keep going, im only on my 3 day 1 hour mark, but i feel so impowered!! If you know what i mean, im back in control on my body and my life.
Cant belive how much better i feel, it has been hard this afternoon the worst since quitting, but have kept myself busy, playing with kids and cleaning up, and dh has finally told me hes proud as he really didnt think i would do it , he though id give up after a few hours like all the other times, and he has given me a goal to aim for , he has promised me a laptop once im no longer depended on the patches!!!!! Wooo im so want a laptop!!!LOL

Keep going everyone, one day at a time, or even 1 hour or 1 minute at a time, each second is a second more towards your smoke free life.

    hi guys
have quickly come on here, well didnt sign off but you know what i mean, i am having a craving.we and littleman just finished dinner, ive washed up, cant be bothered with drying em and outting them away but i feel am starting to miss what i actually hated-the evil white stick!!!Why?I know everyday is different and got to take each day at a time and as time goes by it gets easier-But does it? When i first gave up 2 years ago it lasted 4 months and I found it harder as time went by,dunno wots the matter with me.Maybe it will pass.I feel so tired and sleepy to-i doubt that is down to not smoking or is it lol

Hi Diamond. You are doing GREAT and don't worry about the occasional cravings and wobbly emotions 'cos that's perfectly normal hun. It's funny 'cos when we first quit we blame EVERYTHING on quitting!! You will feel sleepier because you don't have the chemicals in ciggies raising your heartbeat and acting as stimulants. You should just do whatever your body tells you. You will soon find that everything starts settling down and you'll get used to your new "normal" which is just the natural you. It's lovely!

  • Hi everyone,

Wow lots been going on over the weekend on here, it's just taken me ages to get through it all....

MJay- it's just a few puffs nothing to write home or stress about.... hopefully it has made you more determined. Bet it was horrible as well ! must admit- I've tried to stay away from friends who smoke (albeit not many of them left) when drinking because I'm not sure I could manage. Feel for you- but you'll come back much stronger !!

Loads of you are doing so well and keeping positive too- well done to all !!

I had a great weekend and didn't think about smoking or any of you lot- only joking lol !!!
Went to see we will rock you on saturday then had dinner in Chinatown- a lovely treat - expensive but worth it ! had a few cocktails too- could do that every weekend !!
Even nicer thinking that money would have been wasted on pointless sticks that stink and make me stink ! I'm going to start saving all the money and will do nice things with it.

Funny but I saw a poll a while ago on this site 'do moneys savers smoke' and it was VERY high on the smokers.....why do (did) we do it- it's such a waste of money !!!!
Anyhoo- 3 weeks tonight- can't believe it. Boyfriend can't believe it either. In fact he bought me an Ipod yesterday to say well done. (was our anniversary yesterday thats why were spending cash like there's no tomorrow- not a usual thing)

    Have a great day all................x

  • Morning all,

I see it's been a very busy weekend on here again!
I haven't got time to read all the posts so I hope the busyness is a good sign and everyone is still going strong.

Basilcat - sounds like you had a lovely weekend. I hope you thoroughly enjoyed it because you deserve a treat.

I did something yesterday that will ensure that I can't start smoking again.
    I bought a new car!
(well, 2nd hand but new to me).
The repayments will cost just about what we (me and DH who was an occasional social smoker) would spend a month on smoking.
So I can't afford to start again!!

Wishing you all a happy, health, smoke free week.

    BB
    xx

  • Hey everyone! I'm about to quit smoking in about 3days (when my cigs run out,be a shame not to waste them since they were free) Im wanting to do it cold turkey, Im on about 25 a day, and most of the time I don't even CRAVE one, It's just habit, my house stinks and I dont want my daughter growing up to think it's okay to smoke, the crunch point came the other day (shes 20months) when she picked up mummys cigs and popped one in her mouth. I realised then, IM QUITTING. Not to mention Im spending £35 - £40 a week on the foul things.

What kinda of discomfort can i expect, sore heads, nausea?

    Morning all.
Day 4 almost done here!!! Im feeling great this morning, seem to be getting so much more done, didnt realise how much time smoking took up!!!!!!!

Still not had a bad craving and i am going to talk to my nhs smoking adviser tommorow about going on to the 16 hour patches instead of the 24 hour, i took it off last night had a bath and forgot to put one back on until this morning and i feel fine, so cant see the point of having 24 hour if i can manage on 16 hour ones. Does that make sense??

Hope your all doing ok, keep going!!

  • Hi Karen steps and welcome to the quitters :) well done on deciding to quit. JoeHel & TNG will be able to give you the bestest advice ever but in the meantime the worst thing for me when quitting was the moods. If you are going cold turkey then this should last 3 days I think till the nicotine all gets out of your system. Other bad side effect include a cough ( which is your body clearing all of the crap out of your lungs ) a sore throat because your throat has to get used to not being covered in crap ( I think ). On the good side being able to take a deep breath and I mean a deeeeeep breath. Skin, teeth & hair & clothes so much nicer without eau de fagerette. The £ savings - the list goes on and on. I think that they say that you should write down the reasons that you want to quit and keep it on you to read if you get any cravings. Good luck - we are always here for support or if you just need to let off steam :o

:T Well done dlb - I always used the 16 hour patches as I thought it was daft to get my body used to nicotine while I slept as I never smoked while I slept iuswim. Some pcts have a certain brand that they prefer to use so if you want to go onto the 16 hour ones they sometimes discourage it as it is not the one they use  I got around this as I was allergic to the clear 24hour ones anyway so always managed to get the 16hour ones but they had to get special authorisation for them  They also prefer to give the 24hour ones as it takes an hour for the patches to start working so if you are one of those people who crave mostly in the mornings then the 24 hour ones are said to be best as they are working all the time. If you go onto the 16 hour ones just make sure you put it straight on as soon as you wake up and then go for a shower, make breakfast etc etc to keep your mind and hands busy. Good luck xoopsx
