Well day 18 of no smoking and day 2 of no patches - still feel fine but have a bit of a coldat first I thought the sore throat was down to quitting the fags as I think it can give you a sore throat but I now have a bit of a sniffle and I can not get warm so I think I will be tucked up this weekend
this rainy, wet cold weather doesnt give me much enthusiasm to go out either - I think I will just go into hibernation
Have a lovely smoke free weekend everybody - ya know it makes sense :rotfl:
edited to add that I googled new leaf and it is a smoking cessation service that runs in the Nottinghamshire area and surrounding pcts - linky http://www.ashfield-pct.nhs.uk/stoppingsmoking.htm:cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -
Thanks for all your comments today it has really helped, im now on 1 day and 1 hour since quitting, i cant belive i made it through the first 24 hours with no real cravings, had to keep remembering i dont smoke any more eg when i got in from school run this morning i thought right time for a coffee and a .... mint!!!! Just breaking the habbits but hoping the fact that i felt so good today doesnt mean im going to get bad cravings in the days to come.
The only think i cant explain is i woke up crying in the night and didnt know why, but i put it down to the 24 hour patches as was told i may get restless nights with them, but didnt expect tears!!! Dh thought it was quite wierd !!!lol
Right off to have a soak and pat myself on back

You are doing GREAT and you only need to think about one day at a time. The habits start to break so much faster than you think. And yes, you may well get a few cravings in the days to come but if you deal with them with a smile on your face and say to yourself "Wow I am SO happy I don't need to smoke any more" the craving will vanish before you know it and you'll just be getting on with your life smoke free. I'm still loving it and I can't BELIEVE it's been 75 days as of 11pm tonight!! The confidence and boost to self esteem doesn't go down, I tell ya! I've never felt this good about myself.
oops - FANTASTIC!!! One more day and the nicotine will be GONE!! :j Hope the cold doesn't hang around too long hun. At least you can snuggle up in bed without having to get up and go and have your "fix" every so often..
basilcat - brilliant post. Couldn't agree more with everything you've said. The more of us on here repeating it, the more the newbies will realise that THEY can be feeling like that soon too. It's soo exciting!!
Skintnow - great news. And too right - in the long run it's far cheaper for the NHS to fund champix than the heart/lung/cancer surgery 20 years down the line!!!!!
boatie - those smoking dreams are freaky aren't they!! I remember my first about 3 weeks after quitting. The smile on my face when I realised it wasn't real.. heh heh
tattycath if you want a quit meter there are some to download here...

I use quit keeper. They are just great for keeping you motivated - when you realise what you HAVEN'T smoked and HAVEN'T spent, plus how much life you've saved.
purplecatlover - hope to see lots of you over the next few days!! Jo's first post on this thread has lots of useful links and there are loads of us here at different stages with words of encouragement if you need us.
Hi TNG! Yup, we got our very own troll... heh heh. See from another post of his he's actually a 50 year old overweight smoker. You know what it's like mate ... lots easier to drag others down to your level than rise to theirs, eh?!
Melbury - you are sounding lots more positive and three weeks is FANTASTIC. Be proud 'cos you've achieved something amazing. Mahoooosive congrats and keep up the good work!!
Diamond78, I hope you are feeling okay today chick. Been a bit worried about you. How are you doing?

OMG there is a new section in the quit meter bit that you can see how much you WOULD have spent on ciggies if you'd carried on smoking from now until age 69, based on normal inflation.
I would have spent another £120,156 on ciggies if I'd not quit!!!!! :eek:QUIT SMOKING 4/11/07 :j0 -
Hello yellowmonkey!! Long time, no see!! Glad you are well and still off the ciggies. I have read that colds and stuff can feel worse when you've just quit. I'm not looking forward to the first one but hey ho, it'll come and I'll survive it and it's worth it for how much better I feel the REST of the time!!! We just don't realise how ill we are with colds because smoking makes us feel so under-par all the time anyway. We've just got so used to it, that feels "normal" to us!QUIT SMOKING 4/11/07 :j0

Hi Joehel hun,Im ok and better today thank you-not sure why I feel better lol as im a misrable cow like my brother said, he also said all i do is moan but im not going to let him get to me.had i not found this post i can honestly say I would of given up and started smoking but I have stuck to it and still not smoking. So many of you have been a great support, might sound strange as I dont know any of you personaly but in a way I feel i do if that makes sense. In a short period,I have got so much support from so many of you and I cant thank you ba ll enough.I have the worse memory must be me old age and being a mum but cant remember every1s names on the top of my head. been busy today, had to have blood test which wasnt nice,i have really bad pains in my knees, had it for years. After that went to my brothers to collect some of my belonings, he told me he would be at work but i had keys and when i got in he was there-he told me to wait in the halway-he was very cold and offish with me-he had someone on his room.I was annoyed as he lied to me coz he told me he would be working today as thats why couldnt go out for a meal yday.He arranged for me to go his on wednesday but i didnt want to go his as im always stuck indoors-altho i appreciate his gesture.I had already arranged for my son to go and see his grandparents(ex's parents) but i didnt go as i thought my bruv would of come over and he never.Anyway, he said nothing and i said thank you and bye and left.Usually I would of cried my eyes out and gone to buy fags but fags didnt even cross my mind.So am proud of myself.Im upset still as Im hurt my brother is treating me this way as he knows i have suffered with depresion and eating disorder for years.I suffer with bad back pain due to domestic vioence so why cant he understand but im not that bothered now.I know im getting the help and helping myself in trying to get better.By him making hurtful and heartless comments his not helping me so am not going to drop to his level and say bad things back which is what i use to do when we would row.
Shouldnt my 30th been a celebration?Isnt it like your 18th and 21st?Still havent got a card from no one but never mind-i have you lot and thanks for wishing me a happy bday.My gp has refered m for councelling and should be 6-8weeks so hopefully things will start looking up.Once again thanks everyone and keep positive-Im sorry when i moan and am on a downer, oneday i can b fine like 2day and another time i can b really low for no reason-well looks like wont be going ice skating as weather is awful, ive tried to check indoor ones but cant seem to find any but will look again.
hugs to u all xx0 -
