    Evening all.
Well quit time started early as ran out of fags and wasnt going to spend another penny on them, so as of 6pm tonight i became a non-smoker!!!!:j :j :j :j
I have patchs ready for the morning and i am feeling good , have been and scrubbed my teeth within a inch of their life, gone throught 2 packs of mints already!! But fag free for the last 2 hours 17 mins..not long but longer than iv gone for years!!!
Good luck everyone and thats for the support.
To those of you talking about champix, my nhs stop smoking lady told me if you go through a nhs smoking support group and the doctors say there are no medical reasons, they can perscripe it, maybe you would have more luck trying it that way via support group than just going to your own gp??

Nearly the end of day four and wow what a day :)

For the first time ever in any attempt to stop smoking I actually realised Im really happy and positive about quitting. All my last attempts I woke up with dread, got angry the minute I realised I wasnt smoking and was generally resenting trying to quit. Now I dont know if it is the Champix or that Im in a completely different place, all I know is its working for me :)

Im still getting cravings, for the habit smokes. I dont get like "I need a fag right now" more of "oh its time to light up" and with that comes the feeling of tension/anxiety/dry mouth. Still deep breathing my way through them and not giving in. In town was a mixed bag, coming out of shops it was auto reflex to reach for my ciggies (hence the cravings) but it was also great realising I didnt smoke and no longer would it be me sat OUTSIDE the cafe in the rain just so I could get a fix :)

Basilcat, well done for keeping your wits about you and getting help and very well done for not using the shock of it as an excuse to light up :T:T:T

Good luck for tomorrow Dbl, let us know how you are going.

Skint, sorry you couldnt get the champix on the NHS but good for you that you have chosen to pay for it. TBH I would as well if my PCT wasn't prescribing. The nurse at my GP's told me to think of it as " a wonder drug" and for me personally it really has been.I know Im still having to use will power but the difference in this attempt and my previous is huge. As well as being relatively pain free I don't have the munchies and Im HAPPY :) The first three days of taking them were a bit rough and if you do have to drive for work maybe you want to time starting them over a weekend? I wasn't drowsy more like away with the fairies but that passed by day four. I hope you have as much luck with them as I am.

Joelhel, thanks for always giving so much support :T

Very quick visit - great to read that everyone is doing so well.

Today is my 3 week anniversary - can't believe it:eek:
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

  • ahhhh just lost my post - can you tell I am a bit moody tonight, good job Im on my own :rotfl: still havent craved for a fag and still feel god but could have a good scream right now for no reason :o

Good luck dlb - we are all here for you

Good luck Skint and your Doctor is talking carp - Champix costs less per treatment than patches and an inhalator, costs less than the smoking related diseases that you would get if you didnt pack in but he would rather refuse it because of a supposed overspend  typical NHS  save a penny today and pay a pound tomorrow

    Well done Suki :T

    Thanks JoeHel :)

Catch you all tommorow ( hopefully in a better mood  )

ps just added well done Melbury :)

    hiya all,
me again-the moaner of the year lol.Well went docs today and saw another nurse as the one i see for the stop smoking was off sick.I told her i smoked yesterday and i had to blow in that thing to measure the carbonmonixide or whatever it is-it measured 4 so i assume that is good as she said regular smokers are over 10.I have had no cravings for a fag today probaly coz i got my inhaler thing but ive been on a real downer. Its my 30th bday today, my brother didnt txt me, my mum rang me and thats it.I got no cards nothing.I was going to take my son ice skating as a treat but weather was so bad didnt think it would be open.I treated my son instead and got him a few bits.Feel well down but more positive about not smoking -im not sure tho the inhaler is a good thing as i dont want to be relying on this.Ive not had a patch for a few days but feel the carvings are going.

Well done to you all for staying strong and positive, thanks for the suppport and kind comments.xx

Morning all- On Day 18 !!! Woo hoo...

Melbury a big well done on reaching 3 weeks- that's fantastic !!

Diamond- sorry your birthday was so rubbish- and your 30th too... On a positive note- you are doing so well with the not smoking and anyway 30 is the new 25 !!! Why don't you take your son ice skating this weekend, I know the weather is going to be carp but is there an indoor one? I would love to go ice skating... take me right back to my childhood.

Hi to everyone else, oops- the moody stuff will pass as you know but horrible while you're there and Suki- a massive well done, you sound JUST like I did at 4 days- you are SO going to do it.

dlb- you too sound massively positive- keep it up and good luck today !
Skint- welll done for persevering regarding champix- sounds like it was worth the questioning.

Went to the pub last night- 1st time since giving up- it was hilarious !! (not because we did REALLY badly in the quiz- but we did)
It was really busy because of the quiz and there were loads of women all coming in with coats on etc, going to the bar and getting a drink, sitting down with their drinks, taking coats off.. then 5 minutes later all putting coats back on and all trooping outside for a fag !! This went on all night while we sat there in the warm cosy pub watching the smokers trying to dodge the rain !!

really funny it was- and I coped really well and didn't even have a craving- in fact they STANK !! I know now- I have cracked it !!

Have a good day all......x:hello: :hello: :hello:

Hello there all you miserable ex smokers. Just popped in to say knickers to quitting.

I'm 86 been smoking 30 a day since i was 12 and it's never bothered me unlike my dad who smokes far more it's taking it's toll now. He reckons he wont do no more than 6 marathons this year. ;)

It's like saying "I blindfolded myself and ran across the M25, didn't do me any harm so it must be ok. All my mates who tried it got run over, though"
