why did my Nana buy me a 650g box of Thorntons toffee for Christmas - I was going to take it back but the mice around here seem to have made a BIG dent in it :o Ive put on 3lbs so far :rotfl:
Thanks for all of your support everybody :T

Well done oops - you're doing faaaaabulous ;):D

My theory is that, as cigarettes are an apetite suppressant, all you are doing is adding back the weight you lost when you smoked

Does that help? I don't think it does :o
:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood

Feeling fed up today, just don't seem to feel right.

I don't know if it is because:

    a) Doctor put my a drug (thyroxin) just a few days before Christmas for wonky thyroid gland.

    b) Had that horrible bug over Christmas/New Year, which brought forward the stopping smoking date and it is still lingering on.

    c) Stopping smoking.

I just have a continual gnawing feeling in my stomach (sort of crampy I suppose) and also a horrible bitter taste in my mouth.

Sorry for being a misery, but I definitely don't feel better for two weeks without smoking!
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

    Evening all :D

Melbury, this will pass hunny, your body is still trying to adjust to not smoking, you were smoking a lot longer than 2 weeks so you've got to expect your body to take a while to get used to it. In the meantime, your body is repairing itself :D Keep strong and keep posting! :)

TNG, stop being rude to our posters :naughty::p :rotfl:

Mary, welcome to the thread  you are doing great :) Keep on posting and giving us updates :), oh and ignore TNG :D

SB, how you doing hunny? x

Boatie_Bird, you are doing fantastic, looking forward to getting to know you :)

Melbury are you on any sort of NRT? I posted the other day that the patches can cause stomach cramps - not sure if this applies to you though. If your Doctor has just changed a prescribed drug and you are having side effects you may need to go back to your Doctor and have a chat.
2 weeks is absolutely fantastic - I am just over a week in again :o and I just sneezed - I have so much more lung power now that the poor dog nearly had a heart attack

ps - to TNG....... NOTHING is worth putting weight on. I heard on the radio today that more women would take a flatter stomach than £5000 :)

I've put on a stone  which has made me very sad  cause I haven't eaten that much more than normal (honest :p )! However I do think my metabolism has taken a kicking and someone I know said they put on weight and lost it without trying, within 12 months of stopping - so heres hoping. I'm also doing a Rosemary Conley diet and exercise to shift it!! ;) I'm still happier to have stopped smoking, I know I will shift the weight - the smoking was a different thing all together!! What I'm trying to say is don't let putting on weight put you off giving up!

    Hi Melbury,

I had a friend who was on thyroxine and it used to make her feel a bit sick now and again. I'm sure your doctor told you all about it, but Wikepedia lists the POSSIBLE side effects as...

"may have adverse side effects like: palpitations, nervousness, headache, difficulty sleeping, insomnia, swelling of the legs and ankles, weight loss and/or increased appetite."

Your body is adjusting to the new medication AND the lack of nicotine together and it'll take time hun.

Really hope it starts to get easier for you soon.

    Yo Guys!!!
Not at all offended.... Laughing my sox off at TNG n Nyk comments... And Basil's curiosity..... :rotfl:

Well......... Just for devillment...... I'm not telling!!!

Mel, my daughter seems to have become an expert on THE Bug and spoke volumes about cramps, nasty taste in mouth and loads of other bits and bobs.... She hasn't had a new drug for anything and has never smoked... Whether drugs or virus, just keep trucking fag free. How much worse would you have felt if you were still smoking? Do have a natter with the pharmacist about the drugs... I find them much more informative than my (very busy) GP.

BB... It was only one cig... How many didn't you smoke? Any mountain can only be climbed one step at a time.... Deep breathe when you feel overwhelmed.... Good stress buster, swamps the brain with oxygen n gives the lungs great exercise. I go into the garden (yes, even in the rain...) and breathe as deep as possible for a few minutes..... Helps loads.

Ooops a Daisy, Nana bought you a lovely pressey 'cos she loves you... And you're enjoying it more 'cos your taste buds are already working better without the cigs.... Enjoy!! Buy another box.... Beggar the 3lb.... your weight can fluctuate that much over a few days at anytime.... Do we notice these things more when coming off the weed....

Hey...!!! Can you hear how positive I am sounding tonight...??? Nice thing about this board is that if I am climbing the walls tomorrow, I can say so and one of you guys will be having the "Good Day" feelings and sharing the moment...

Nearly there on another day... Night, night!

    Mary
    (hmmm...no, definately not THAT one...! :A )
