Tesco's at this time of day is lethal for me cos I'm starving, I just know I'm gonna come home with a multipack of Cadbury's Flakes and a whole host of choklit!
xx
mMMmm - ages since I had a flake. Must have one soon, I reckon, they're luurrrvvelly
Putting up curtains? At least you weren't at work all day like me, slaving away over me pooterI was also sorting out my desk where I found a load of spare ties. I've got three or four in there somehow
Hope we are all well, boys and girls. Keep strong and stay stopped!!:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
In my own personal experience giving up smoking has failed whenever the reasons for stopping were for someone else, Her Majs Gov said it was bad for me or it was getting expensive and any other reason you can think of that can be construed as external pressure.
It may sound trite and very simplistic but it was only when I decided in my own mind that I truly wanted to stop smoking that I succeeded. Everybody is different though and in the end this was what worked for me. I had realised that all my previous attempts to stop were never because I wanted to stop. It was always 'I must stop smoking' for whatever external reasons that were applicable at the time.
Good luck to anybody kicking the habit.
You have absolutely got in one there!
It doesn't matter how many people tell you it is bad for you, until you get it completely right in your own head it is not worth even thinking about stopping. That's why most of the people going to their doctors surgery and stopping smoking sessions and being put on nicotine patches all end up failing. I was told that by the practice sister at our surgery, most people don't want to stop at all, just feel obliged to try as the doctors keep telling them to.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

Welcome Boatie Bird..... THE hardest day is nearly over for you so again, well done! I have tried the lozengers in the past.... YUK, like sucking an ashtray... Nicorette Gum made me full of gas that had a life of its own - in my books, just as anti-social as smoking!!!
I am using Nicontinell and have found that helpful without the embarrassing side effects! Mind you, I think I became addicted to it when I last gave up...
Thanks for the link JoeHel will follow that up as I too am impressed by information about improvements in the body.
G'luck guys...

Good evening everyone. Thank you all so much for all the birthday wishes you sent me on the 6th. I was so very touched. It's been absolutely mad lately!!! so much to do and so little time. Not even had time to think about smoking!!! I think if I smoked now it would finish me off-asthma playing up tonight, but I am allergic to the cat and OH hasn't stopped smoking. So I might just take myself off to bed in a min. Welcome to all the newbies. I am unsure who said it now, but when I used to smoke the first cigarette seemed to have a laxative effect on me and I had to dash-often!!! :rotfl:
Everyone is doing really well, if anyone does have a lapse-just remember that is all it is, a temporary lapse. Continued good luck to everyone.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Late night hello, day 9 of what they call 'cold turkey', no ill effects, not had any cravings and not had any withdrawal symptoms.
Why is it called 'cold turkey'? Is it because that's all there is for eating at New Year and New Year's when we all decide to quit?I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

morning all- Day 9 aren't we all doing well??
Had a bit of a blip this morning when I got on the scales- have put on half a stone ! Usually reach for the fags and cut right back on eating to lose weight (that's healthy!) and up gym visits - but its funny how you go- Oh, thats what I usually do- lets find another solution!
It's good that my usual habits are being challenged and that I am recognising what I usually do- must change..... must have been so predictable- how boring !!
My friend thinks I'm pregnant (not because of weight gain :rotfl: ) but because of not drinking or smoking ! Have a good day all...xMTC's NO MORE PIES MEMBER NO 202 !!!

I think it's from drug addicts and the way their skin goes when they just stop. Kinda like goosebumps or how a 'cold turkey' would look minus the feathers....
Might be an urban myth....
Well done anyway Nyk, cath, basil, oops, MJay, melbury - I'm SO proud of you all (and everyone else, of course....)
