Welcome Diamond .
Well done on quitting. You have done really well to post and do not be afraid. I was the same and thought i would be the most grumpiest B*****D in south east England . I found this thread and the support on here is second to none. It is difficult moving into a new area and making friends but until you do we are all here so pop in whenever you feel like it.

Hello everyone,
I am giving up smoking 2moro,today is my last day.Ive been waiting for so long to give up! Im going to find it very hard tho. I havent got much support so Im a bit worried as I dont to give in. I am under a lot of stress as I have a lot of problems aswell as suffering from depression but I know I cannot use these as an excuse no more. Im a single mum on my own,I have just moved to a new flat which is a s@@@hole as my landlords not doing the repairs and havent made many friends in the area.
I have been to see the nurse at the gp who gavev me a booklet aswell as my patches. But im still scared as I really do not want to fail this. This is my 2nd attempt to give up. I done really well last time I gave up.I done it for 4 months, then when I saw my sons dad(ex) he asked if i was pregnant as Id put on weight. It had never bothered me until he made that comment. I loked healthy and glowing but his comment felt like an insult to me.I was not pregant but actually a healthy size 10. I have always been slim but an unhealthy slim as I have eating disorder. Now I dont care how much weight I put on as I want and need to put on weight as Ive lost too much weight due to the stress and my depression and I have promised my 5 year old son that 2008 is going to be different. My dad died about 2 years ago from lung cancer and his brother who was my uncle died of the same. How am I going to get through this?
I dont want to be ratty when I have a craving,I dont have a lot around me to keep smoking off my mind.Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys x
I am joining you too for tomorrow! Going to be hardThese guys are great and I am sure we can get through this together mate!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI NEED TO CHANGE MY BAD LUCK RUN!!!!

Thanx jo1972, I will have a read now.I am actually aware that smoking is one of my problems and my goal is to quit for good and I will quit for good. Due to my depression, I find it hard to be positive but thats another thing I am working on. Me and my son have agreed that the money I save will go towards disneyparis and my altho 5 going on 15 has said he will stop being naughty for mummy, hope it lasts lol but again I can not keep using excuses, I know its willpower to. Goodluck to everyone else that is quiting and well done to all that has quit.0

Goodluck dramaqueen , we can do this together.I know its going to be hard but we have to do it. We can support each other as we go. Are you going to be using any patches or gum? I have been given patches. I used this last time which sort of helped but caused a slight rash on my skin. I also found chewing normal chewing gum when I wanted a fag. well all the best and stay in touch x0

Thanks yellowmonkey and well done with giving up. I know Im going to be grumpy lol but I think being aware that im going to be like that will change the way I think and make me less grumpy. I will come on here as much as I can, its great that there are people like you that are kind and supportive and mostly understanding.Im going to feel lost tho,I always have a ciggie when im online, soon as I wake up, dont know what Im going to do without my little comfort all I know is i got to keep reminding myself that Im poisonining myself and my son, im throwing money down the drain and paying the goverment to smoke and it killed my dad and uncle but still all this never stopped me b4.
Im also starting driving lessons with the money I use to by these nasty little fags so suppose thats another good thing. Thanks again to you all for the kind words and support.x0 -
Nope mate I am doing it with willpower alone at the mo - see how I go if not I will go for the patches!Fingers crossed xxxxxxxxxx

Yeah but Diamond your 5 (going on 15yo
) knows no better and will probably be good for a couple of hours then forget all about it! You, on the other hand have far to much to lose by lighting up again.
Have you ever been to Disneyland Paris? We took my DD1 when she was 7 (before the other 2 turned up!) and it was the most magical experience. I remember her looking at the pink castle when we got there, it was evening and all lit up and the parade was going past, I'll never forget the look of amazement in her eyes.....aww you've brought a tear to my eye! When you get a craving, think of your 5yo's trip to Disney!!

Awww thats sweet jo1972. I know he will play up as he is only a child, kids are kids and if they dont misbehave they r not kids.
I have never been to disney. My son so wants to go and its his birthday in march,I have promised him and will stick to it. That must of been such a magical moment for you to see your lovely daughters look of happiness. That is one special moment that will stay with you forever. Both me and my son have had a hard time unfortunatly and we both deserve some happy moments. I live for my son and want him to have happy memories of his childhood and I know like your daughter he will have a magical time in disney. I took him butlins last year with the money I saved the year before from stopping smoking. He loved every second but I know disneyparis will be even better.
I cant wait now.And I will do that, everytime I think of I want a fag will think of disney and Aidan.xxxx0 -
Hello everyone,
Still not feeling good, beginning to wonder if it still the bug hanging around or purely down to nicotine withdrawal.
Haven't enjoyed a drink for days, can't really taste anything properly which doesn't help and I am sure that for the past 36 years the smoke gave drinks a different (wonderful?) taste, which I am still expecting and of course that has gone now. It's like that old biscuit advertisement "a drink's too wet without one."
OMG don't I sound a miserable, whinging !!!!!. I must start having more positive thoughts. I think I am just in total shock, my anticipated stop smoking date was 31st January not 27th December, but events just overtook me and here I am with lots of ciggies rolled in my tin and lots of spare packs of baccy, papers and filters in the cupboard. When my dad stopped smoking he carried a packet of cigarettes in his pocket at all times for two years (until they fell to bits). He never had one, but said if you are serious about stopping it shouldn't make any difference whether they are there or not, which is true.
Glad to hear that so many of you are doing so well. Good luck to all of you 1st January quitters, although lots of people say that this isn't the best day of the year to stop on. Look forward to hearing from you all.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0
