I'm back again ! And tomorrow is the day for me, no mess no fuss, just doing it. I've joined the no alcohol in January challenge too, because for me the two habits - shall I say - encourage each other.
Diamond, don't think of it as a battle, think of it as a war you've already won. Well done NY and Melbury.

Hi Everyone,
Happy new year to you all. Well Ive not had a good start. I feel like a failure already. Just before I went bed last night i told my son to throw my cigs in the bin, he looked so happy when he broke them up. I had 5 left in the packet. Well he didnt break 2 of them so i went down the bin and got em out, I know thats awful. I was fine when I woke up but Im full of flu and every part of me aches. Then I remembered my ex inlaws and how they do my head in by not being nice to my son and thats when I got the cigs out the bin. One thing I got to deal with and learn is when someone winds me up, the answer is not having a smoke. So i smoked about half of one of the cigs and lighting the other now and I must admit it tastes disgusting. I have put my patch on aswell so I know I am overdosing on nicotene.Im smoking it secretly from my son coz if he sees he will be upset with me, when I want him to be proud of me. I feel I have let my son, myself and everyone else down but this is the 1st day and I am not going to buy no more cigs, I cant and wont I hope. I have a headache and feel so ill today.
How am i going to cope when Im stressed and annoyed? When ppl annoy me what can I do as I am use to lighting up...I have so many problems and stresses and not sure how to work round those problems and triggers. I know I shouldnt let ppl get to me especially my sons grandmother who is my ex's mum,she really knows how to wind me up but im determined not to let her get the better of me. She really upsets my 5 year old son,I really want to ring her and speak my mind but if i do i know i will want a cig so im not. I have told my son not to allow me to buy cigs but hes only young bless him, he will be 6 soon, he doesnt know just how hard it is but i will do it for my son and think of disneyparis and my driving lessons.Well done to everyone that has managed to stay off these nasty little sticks that are poisoning us0 -
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL
My day one has become day 2, since I finished my cigs yesterday morning, so I haven't taken the time to sit around the kitchen table drinking coffee - where I usually succumb to the temptation, especially if the phone rings!
All areas of the house have now been designated as no smoking areas. Diamond78 - be strong, the ex-inlaws aren't the worst people on the earth, honestly. I feel a little awkward with mine, mainly because they don't know the half of what went on when I was married to their son, but there are worse people you could have to share breathing space with when the ex is remarried and the kids are of marrying age ROFL THAT'S the one I am NOT looking forward to!
Anyway, rather than thinking of the cig, think of something really silly to do, something that could also be fun for both you and your son... then just do it. If the ex-in-laws think you have flipped, so be it... tell them you quit smoking and took up biscuit wrapper origami or whatever
Good luck to everyone who is starting today, well done to those who have quit and are well on their way and come on guys, I'm sure there must be something silly you like to think about doing rather than burning your money.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
PS: Nicotine withdrawal has not kicked in but that's only been 26 hours or so since last ciggie, so I'll let you know what happens.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Well done Nykmedia
Diamond, don't beat yourself up hunny, if it was easy why do you think people keep starting again!! You need to start afresh again and don't let the blip turn into anything but that, just a blip. I've got faith in you. I think you may need to chat to your GP about NRT or find your local smoking cessation clinic or Pharmacist that deals with quitting smoking. NRT (ie patches etc.) are available on prescription and if you join a scheme with a GP, Clinic or Pharmacist and you have to pay for prescriptions then it works out half price. I know you probably think NRT is a waste of money cos you're not actually 'enjoying' it like lighting a fag  but just a few weeks of patches will help keep the cravings at bay helping you to deal with the habitual part of smoking.
Good luck, whatever you do keep postingYour son will be off to Disney this year I'm confident of that
