Hi Ela
Welcome to the thread, check out the first post for links and support. We are all here (normally anyway :rotfl:) for help. Have you decided on a quit date yet?
Jo.x
Im thinking Christmas, I know its a long way off, but Im going away at half term (excuses excuses) and I dont me being ratty spoiling everyones hol. After Christmas all the stress will of gone, new start in the new year. Ive had hypnosis before and it did work for a few days but it was a bad time to stop (new job, stress, stress).
Im very good at stopping, done it loads of times, its just staying that way I have a problem with.Dec, Nokia E71 | Mar, Senseo CM |0 -

no it won't ela and I think if you were really really really really honest with yourself, you would agree.
Some other stress will come along to replace it and will give you the excuse to do it 'after things have calmed down a bit'. They don't. Non-smokers get stressed too. There never will be a perfect time, meaning that 'now' is always a good time (huh?). I'm not suggesting that you stop right now, but I am saying don't think that it will all be a lot calmer in the new year. Pick a different stop date.
Please. :A:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
I was more than a little annoyed at the headlines on GMTV this morning and in fact could have cried!! "Obesity is worse than smoking" - had I not been as determined or as far along with my quit I may very well have thought sod it, whats the point!!! How irresponsible are these reports, sure I know its possibly true (?) however quitting should still be a priority. I'm already paranoid about the half stone I've put on and my ever tightening waist band and the temptation to think stuff it is huge!!! Sorry about the rant I'm just so angry!!

Tell me about it, IDA
That, coupled with that latest add on TV for patches that contain 'theraputic' nicotine. AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Makes I mad:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
I was sat here completely baffled for a minute, I replied to IDA's post about half hour ago and couldn't understand where it had gone to, but just realised that before I'd finished it the boss walked in and I had to close it down, I thought I was going potty!
Anyway, what I was saying was, I didn't see the GMTV thing as I am only allowed CBeebies in the morning but can understand how it would make you so angry.
TNG, I've not seen the patch ad either, don't watch much TV meonly the obligatory corrie and EE

Well I'm doing lots of sighin, huffing and puffing (not literally!) today, this is the first time I've been doing any course work since my quit. I gave up directly after my exams and spent the summer doing very little related to my study - however I'm sat with some course work and prior to my quit would probably smoke about 10 ciggies while at it, this time everytime I go blank (frequently) I have to sigh, or huff or puff (again not literally). I have to say this is the first time in a long time where it all feels too much, what with the headlines and my study I feel like saying stuff it!!! God I'm pathetic today - don't worry I won't give in - but very tempted - even though I hate the smell, taste etc - lol!!! Sorry waffling/ranting!
Take care all
love and hugs

Love your feeling of liberation TNG. We could become the SLA - Smokers Liberation Army and free all the smokers from their shackle to the evil weed!! Only those who want to be liberated though - lol !!!!
Just revisiting out past to give me strength!! Must get back to my study now! Thanks for being here.:A

Awww IDA, big hugs to you. The problem you are experiencing isn't because it all feels too much (IMHO anyway
), I think it's purely as you are used to smoking like a chimney whist studying and now you no longer smoke your habitual part of your brain is telling you that there is something missing.
I remember when I gave up smoking I found it difficult when I was on the phone and it took a good few times on the phone before I got used to not smoking, the thoughts automatically kick in. It's only cos it's the first time you've studied since you've kicked the habit.
Keep strong, we need you for support too cos you're good at thatDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

You don't need any more strength than you already have, IDA.
