Totally agree with you!! I always thought my smoking was a rebellious thing inside me, but no, Allen Carr gets rid of all that!!! Its not anyones fault that you are a smoker!!! At the end of the day it is an addiction and nothing else!!!!I never ever thought that I would find it so easy to stop and thats the honest truth!!!:j

I had no idea it would be so easy either and ive really shocked all my smoking friends

I'd been smoking for nearly 10 years (im 22 btw) so i think the comment about allan carr working better if youve been smoking ages is true.

Hotfeet have a look at allen carr's book, even if you dont use it as your method of giving up, it helps to put you in the right frame of mind in my opinion

Adzha, thats very sad about your friend, my friend wont tell his parents he's bi for fear of that very thing. I hope he pulls through life is still worth living without parents blessing

    Thanks :)

His sexuality shouldn't be criticised. Ok its a bit scary when he goes to hug you, because I'm straight, but he's still a great person.

    When did you quit?

hi be focused :hello: and welcome,

Have you tried any books (Allen Carr, Neil Casey)? They help with the psychological side of smoking and could help you

What you need to realise is that smoking only calms down the anxiety that was caused by the previous cigarette. That is the addiction.

Also, if you haven't already (and jo1972 hasn't told you to ;)), read this thread from the start. Amongst the chat is some real good advice

    Hope this helps

Thanks for your time in writing. No I haven't tried any books as yet - but will try and read some more of this thread to find out more info. I hear what you are saying about calming down the anxiety that was caused by the previous cigarette but I think my anxiety is outside of the cigarette cycle, it certainly was before as it was anxiety that made me start.
Yes you message did help - cheers!

Morning be focused and welcome to the thread

As TNG said, Allen Carr (which I've read) and Neal Casey (which I haven't although has big kudos from others on this thread) books are the way to go I think in terms of thought process. It breaks it all down and helps you to understand how your mind is working, it's all actually common sense but subconcious stuff you don't think about.

Have a look at the first post in this thread, there are loads of links to various sites that will give you advice and support. Also we've compiled a list of things that we have found better/inspirational after quitting smoking.

Good luck hun, be sure to keep us updated, you'll get loads of support here :)

Thanks Jo, thanks so much. I was just thinking tonight about sitting down more in the evenings to read. I'll see if I can find the book in the library (MSE and all that) before buying it! I'll also try and read some more of this thread, but it moves so quick it's hard to keep up!
I wonder whether I am actually ready to give up yet, but only time will tell!

That attitude is just a small step away from homophobia i must say, but you are young i guess

I'm still struggling, but what's new. I'm still reading the thread for encouragement, but have started to blog on my addiction to nicotine and how I'm going to beat the damn thing.

Hey all! How's it going? I been a bit bad again but hanging in there...........to anyone who's interested I will have a book to pass on soon, sent to me kindly one someone on here on condition that I pass it on when finished. It's called "How to stop smoking and stay stopped". Can't remember the author's name just now. Oh and I have a copy of Allen Carr's easy way which will be up for grabs shortly too. Also I went to meet my new addition to the family on Saturday.............who wants to see? Dropping kids at school and going to see my stop smoking lady at 10 but might have time to add a pic in between but otherwise will pop one on a bit later! He's a fierce looking boy!
