By all means stake claim to passing on the grounds that you were confident, but to discredit all bloke examiners as lecherous perves is a shame. I passed first time aged 42 with 8 minors for being too hesitant
I even said to the instructor whilst waiting to pull out into traffic he was going to be in for a long wait as I still found it hard to judge distances and was not going to be moving less I felt like I had loads of room
I still do wait for nearly a clear road lol
But I done all the required manoeuvres without fault and drove confidently around the test route so I don't think I was so bad really
Mind I've have never ever since that day paralleled parked nor reversed around a corner0 -
My late Mum passed on her 4th time, but she was 67!! x0

I passed 6th time.
First time I was 18 and after failing the 2nd test I stopped until I was 22, fell pregnant, failed a 2nd (4th) time decided to concentrate on my baby. At 28 I started again, as well as the lessons, DH had me driving all over. I passed the 2nd (or 6th ;-)) time. Pleased I did it, its a pain but worthwhile.
My son started his driving lessons last week, I hope he doesnt take too long to pass his test its so expensive.
Good luck, you can do it...0 -

Me too! Don't give up. Good Luck0 -
It doesn't matter how many times just keep doing it. I think your theory test expires if you don't pass your practical and then you have to start again. You have lost some confidence, does your instructor inspire you? Maybe change instructor, this is what I did and the difference was amazing.skintchick wrote: »I missed this bit. I don't know, but I passed first time 21 years ago  We didn't even have to do a theory test in those days, just a verbal one at the end of the practical test.
Yes I passed my test over 30 years ago, there were a lot less cars on the road and we had 4 gears and reverse. Fewer manouvres etc. I can't imagine how many drivers would fail today's standards :eek:The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Steve Biko0 -
I passed first time, after 18 hours of lessons, with 1 minor (staying in 3rd gear too long).
You have 2 options-
1. You can book your retest and sit it, but I wouldnt recommend doing this if you aren't confident. Lack of confidence and driving too slowly are both major hazards and can cause accidents. However if this was a one off then go ahead and rebook. I wouldn't sit a re-test unless I was confident enough to pass
2. You can leave it and "maybe" sit it later eg. July onwards. The issue with doing this is so many people say this then just give up, totally wasting the money they have spent on lessons and tests until then.
How long it takes other people is irrelevant, the most important thing is YOU need to feel that you can drive before you sit your test (IMO anyway)Saving money like a trouper...0 -
Took me four goes.
But tbh i am still a scardy cat driver. I have been known to go a long way out of my way to avoid hills and hill starts:oSIMPLY BE-££577.11:eek:

I've failed twice. Started to learn in my early 20s but my instructor wouldn't teach me after a couple of lessons because he said it would take me more than 10 lessons. I'm dyspraxic so find it really hard. Started learning again a few years later with an instructor I think who would be more suited to teenage boys but again I think the problems caused by my dyspraxia frustrated him and he'd actually scream at me if I did something wrong to the point where one lesson I pulled over to the side of the road and refused to drive any further until he apologised. First test I had 4 minors but failed for cancelling my indicator a split second too late after coming off at a junction and the second time I failed for indicating too late on a roundabout (I disagree with this - I indicated half way across the exit before and earlier indication would have confused things). Then I moved house and didn't get round to it and now my theory has expired. Need to start learning again but I'm freaked out by the whole thing now. I'd try automatic but it's not the clutch that's the problem.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0
