  • Third time lucky for me :)

Book it tomorrow, I failed my second test went home booked another for 6 weeks time got a new instructor and passed I've been motoring now for 9 years :)

    Good luck

    Steph xx
  • I passed my bike test (parts 1 & 2) when I was 17, and passed my car test at 19 (I was a late starter). Both first time.

I am quite forceful, aggressive, and don't dither about. I actually thought I was going to fail my car test as I booted it to pull out from a junction where I felt I could have been sat forever whilst waiting for a "safe" gap (busy road!)

Undue hesitancy is one of the most common failure areas

Thank god for that. Drivers who p!ss about without seemingly having a clue of what is going on around them or what a hazard they are being are a right pain. Rebook your test, drive safely but assertively and you will pass no problem.

I dont think there is an average for how many times you take your test before being passed. I passed first time. A mate of mine took his test four times before finally passing. He had some right mishaps during his tests that have us all rolling round in stitches even now. He never is asked to be the driver when we all go out to this day!
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.
  • I passed first time with on and off lessons over a few years, you will get there, just believe in your self , it felt wrong being out on my own after I passed as I was so use to some one sitting next to me all the time! Was only out a few mins on first trip on my own and a muppet walked from behind a bus not looking into my path, didnt think Id need my emergency stop (again) so soon after my test that morning lol!!! Good luck and get back on it ASAP :)
  • I passed on my third attempt, 3 years ago today. Book your test again ASAP.

Quite often I see a clear roundabout ahead so motor on then nearly hit some chump in front who is slowing right down for no reason at all!

I passed my driving test first time at 17. I had learned to drive at 14 (in fields) and I'm sure the earlier the better so my son can already drive now (he's 12). My dad used to build and race his own cars so I was not encouraged to dither about.

I didn't drive particularly well in my test but then someone headed straight towards my car at about 60mph in a 30 area (a joyrider?) and I had to basically wrestle my car into a side road to avoid getting hit. The tester braced himself and did the sucking air through the teeth narrow miss thing and I'm sure that's why I passed!
  • It took me SIX.

My own mother failed 5 times, and then just gave up. She simply can't do it. What makes people keep going?

This reminds me of Maureen from "driving school", or (whatever it was). That many fails? Just give up please ... and keep off the roads :|

EDIT: and to be put forward as "ready" for the test by the instructor, and then failing that many times. eeek.
  • second time for me lol( both tests in my own car manual no dual control) and I was so nervous the first time.... and had an awful examiner too, said I failed because I did not see the pedestrian approach as I was reversing around the corner, stupid manoeuvre in my opinion have never had to use it! anyway I never saw anything nevermind a pedestrian, think he was on magic mushrooms!!! anyway second time I actually thought I had fluffed it because, I did 80m p/h as opposed to 70m p/h on the A2 fortunately for me he couldnt see my speedo from the passenger side although my driving instructor was sat in the back with eyes as large as saucers as she could see the speedo lol, I also approched a roundabout rather quickly but confidently( no traffic lucky for me) I didnt give way to an oncoming vehicle it was a very narrow road, and the other vehicle was a landrover lol fortunately for me I was driving my super duper KA and she squeezed passed no probs lol and just for good measure stalled the car twice when I had to do the turn in the road manoeuvre, saying that i did all my checks each time and clearly he felt I was a confident driver!!!! Boy was I happy when he said to me well done you passed!!! I actually said really????I actually didnt believe him at first sitting there with my mouth open catching flies, so OP you go and book another test its the best feeling in the world when you do pass:) I also forgot to mention that my driving instructor jokingly told me to where something short on the day of my test...... Well it was summer and stiffling hot but she couldnt suppress her smile when I walked out wearing the shortest pair of shorts I could find, a vest top and trainers.......... lol
LOVE isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live WITHOUT

Good post up to that point ^^. By all means stake claim to passing on the grounds that you were confident, but to discredit all bloke examiners as lecherous perves is a shame. Possibly a contributing factor, but a pity if it was :(
