Also would the lodger sleep somewhere else on the days i have my kids as there wont be enough beds when i have them!.
Increase your income, easier said then done. We are both part time. The place i worked last year burnt down so made redundant but my boss still give me some hours on clerical work part time. We have both been looking for full time work for the last year but as yo are aware sometimes it works out that your are taking home less money even though you are working more as they stop other benefits. I dont want to sponge off the government but am i hell going to work longer hours just to have less money going in my bank each week then in turn start struggling with other bills like gas and electric and end up on the other forums on here in the Im in debt section!.
We have been living here 10 years and the school is nearby for our oldest. There is no smaller properties in this area, and like I say why on earth did they put my then single wife in a 3 bed house anyway??
this is just a load of rubbish to cut your benefits, thats all it is. If they shut the door on all the immigrants coming it taking all the houses we would not be in this state and next month we are welcoming more in to the country!!!. Its insane. when are we going to get a government who actually lives in the real world!!!
You need to look at longer picture, when UC comes in you'd need to work more hours so take a look at that policy too.0 -

Probably for the same reason that most other people affected by the bedroom tax were placed in properties which they under-occupy. If the demographic on the waiting list does not match housing stock, it is inevitable that some properties will be under-occupied.
However, this only accounts for a very small percentage of social housing tenants, around 5%, and the majority of those tenants have only one 'spare' room. The myth is that social housing tenants are rattling around in 3-4 bedroom properties on their own, when the fact is that those tenants are a very small minority.0 -
together we work 24 hours a week. The last time my partner who gets paid monthly workes a couple of hours overtime so about £14 they stopped our housing benefit and and had to pay full rent and full council tax. This was a lot more than the £14 extra earnt for a month!.
I would work full time if i had a job to go to. This is the first time ever in my life I have been part time. I am 38 years old and always worked a full time job from 40-60 hours a week, and balancing having my kids every 2 weeks without fail.
I never expected the business i worked at to burn down overnight but I am trying my best to get more work but unless its of a certain amount it really is not worth taking as we would bring in less money with all the benefits that would get stopped.
Even just getting free prescriptions is a help for us as I m on several tablets daily for the rest of my life and this does add up even if i get a 12 month prescription one its still hard trying to find that money up front to pay for it.0 -
You say the country is in a mess and you're being sh*t on, yet this country is paying/subsidising your rent and topping up your income so you can work part time. Doesn't sound like you're being sh*t on to me. You lost my sympathy when you started ranting about immigrants anyway.0

I wasnt after your sympathy StarryStarry anyway and if you dont agree with my opinions which I am entitled too then dont bother posting pointless comments. thank you0

But if 1 of you worked 16 hours or more, you'd get WTC and free prescriptions. You may need to look at other options and play about with the calculators.
Your hb should not have been stopped (if you pay more than £14) and only for that week.0 -

Low wages and high rental costs?0 -
@Mara69. I invite you to where I live and visit the job centre 4 times a week like i do and find us both full time jobs. I would be quite happy to take them.
Everyones postion is different in every part of the Country, health issues, personal issues. You cant tar everyone with the same brush.
I have worked FULL time since 16 and never been out of work until now so dont make out as though we are not trying. Your comments are not very helpful!!0 -
