I'm not a naughty boy, I'm the Messiah!!

    Hold on that's not right...

Anyway, as I can't be bothered to mend my OP, when I meant I comp for profit, I meant monetary profit. I'm a seller and use the proceeds of eBaying the prizes so I can buy things I wouldn't normally be able to, which to me then become 'my' winnings. There's some things I've kept and I admit there's some things whereby on receipt, I've not been able to move on ("Not for Resale" in some cases, unsellable tat in others), in which case I'll donate to raffles or such like, but on the whole, yes, I'm a dirty seller ;)

As Blu said earlier, I'm liking the fact this is 'almost' a grown up debate! Almost, because I'm involved which drags the level down somewhat :) Would be very nice to have more of these without the standard slanging matches and locked threads. More please!
Golly, I've got the newt pregnant...

  • Re someone funding IVF via comping ...

I vaguely remember that, but can't remember who it was.
Aren't there easier/less time consuming/faster ways of earning money, though? :)

Possibly Our Lass, but possibly not. I came to this forum when times were very hard I was struggling to find other ways to make money. What I did here helped us through that. It was only part of what I did, but when you are really broke and the jobs aren't easy to find, I think there are definitely worse ways to add to your income. I suppose the main thing though, as Bluebella says, everyone should decide these things for themselves, without being got at for it. X

I am who I'm meant to be
I'm not scared to be seen
    I make no apology

When you talk down to others it says more about you than them.

Do you think people are being 'got at'? Genuinely, I'm not being sarky or anything. I think it's just people have different opinions, different situations etc (as in everyday life) and they should be allowed to air them without anyone feeling 'got at', or anyone feeling as though they're being told to shut up and not say anything because it goes against the majority or loudest voices.
    :)

Yes - comp for cash or mug an old lady/burgle a home - I know which option I would choose!

Oops - I'm not talking about anything you've said, to the best of my memory anyway. I meant generally. Yes people are VERY got at for talking about selling prizes here. I've even seen where someone posted about their first win in IWIWIW. They were thrilled to win something, but mentioned selling it and got moaned at. That has to be wrong. Discussion is good, as long as doesn't get nasty. The proof is that usually when this issue comes up the thread ends up being closed. That proves that it often deteriorates into attack. But definitely that isn't the case here - yet :D

lol. I was thinking more like Avon, online freelance work, Betterware, courier work etc. I mean, you can't guarantee an income via comping, can you? :)

No worries, I hadn't taken it personally, I was speaking generally too :)

I don't like discussions being locked as no-one ever gets to resolve anything and that, in some cases, makes the atmosphere worse.

Yes those are all other forms of income although I wouldn't say trudging the streets with Avon or Betterware appeals to me LOL. Far too much like hard work and not really for a hermit like me, either .... although comping is incredibly hard work sometimes it's also great fun and good for those of us of a slightly antisocial bent. Online freelance work is great if you can get it however comping is so good because there's the CHANCE of something bigger. I think it's the possibility that's so fantastic if that makes sense. We all hope for the dream, don't we?

'unsellable tat' I like that but I think you mean 'ideal Christmas gifts :rotfl:'
