Bagging a bargain UK hotel from Londontown.com

I went on Londontown and found a hotel which I then found cheaper on the hotels own website. Londontown’s rate was £275.00, and hotels own website price was £154.10. I booked the hotel on Londontown, and I took a screen grab of the hotels website and filled in a claim form.
I spent ages double checking it was the same deal, and Londontown was definitely more expensive for the same room.
I filled in a claim form on Sunday. Yesterday morning, I checked the website and the price I’d booked the hotel at was still the same. I checked later in the afternoon, and the price for the exact same room (as well as the price for a twin room), had been reduced in-line with the hotels website prices.
I received an email today however, saying the following:Thank you very much for your email and for letting us know about the lower rate that you had seen elsewhere. We are always excited to discover if there are lower rates out there so we can investigate and get the same rate for LondonTown.com or correct what is usually an error on the other source.
I have looked into your particular claim. Our intention, which I hope is clear and reasonable, is that we pay 100 GBP when someone else has the same 'package' at a lower price.
Unfortunatley, the rate you found on www.doylecollection.com is available on LondonTown.com and so your claim is not valid.
I will however arrange for the hotel to amend your rate to £154.10 and send you a new confirmation email as soon as possible.0 -
will let you know how I got on - just booked 4th dec 1 night at the Crowne Plaza at Heathrow:
Londontown £91 incl VAT
ActiveHotels £67 incl VAT
fingers crossed :j0 -
Hi, Just found this thread and I've spent all morning trawling through Londontown.com and comparing prices and I thought I'd found a winner.
I've found a hotel that on LT is £117 per night but the cancellation terms say "You may cancel anytime up until 6pm 1 day prior to arrival."
Whereas on laterooms.com, the same hotel is £110 per night but the cancellation terms say "There will be no cancellation charge if a booking is cancelled before 14:00 GMT 1 day before your date of arrival."
Does this mean the claim will be no good?
Edit to add:
Found the same hotel, again for £110 per night on booking.com and the cancellation terms state "If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged" which is less specific.... however not exact.0 -

I have replied saying the above and am now awaiting a response, but I was wondering if anyone else had received a similar response? I know the cheaper price wasn’t available on their website because there were only two price available for that hotel – both were more expensive.
i've been lurking on here for a while now, finally registered and i'm trying to crack this londontown.com thing-
i may have misunderstood but surely your email booking confirmation shows you paid it's higher price? Or are they claiming that it had changed by the time you took the screen grab? if so it's quite cheeky you cant send the screen grab with the initial claim form....0 -
i cracked it!
booked a room at £99
found an offer on another site at £97 with same t&c's
they're sending me £100 once i check out!
cheers for all the advice on here x0 -
Just thought I would say, I have got another dead cheap hotel thanks to this guarantee
Acts as a bump for anyone who hasn't seen this before.

Don't spose anyone knows of a similar site but for international hotels?

Hi - This looks great but I'm confused about the following in the terms and conditions - does this mean if you go for secret rooms?
The specific hotel and location is known to you at the time of your booking; the Guarantee is not valid where you are told which hotel and location you will be staying in after you have made your booking;
Do I search elsewhere first then book with them and how do you prove it's cheaper?
keep up the good work0 -
This thread is now over 2 years old and people are still getting results from this fab deal :j:j:j
+ well done to www.Londontown.com for continuing to honour the guarantee.
Another usefull site for finding comparibles is www.roomratecompare.com
Some extra sites on there to check for better rates.0 -

What this means is the "secret rooms " as on Last minute.com , hotwire, priceline etc can not be used as a comparible, as when you book one of these, you do not know EXACTLY where you are staying until AFTER you have paid for the booking.
What is valid -
Search www.Londontown.com for a hotel.
search other sites ie www.roomratecompare.com or www.hotelscomparison.com for hotels, same place same dates.
When you find comparibles, check payment terms, cancellation terms , types of rooms, board basis b4 commiting yourself (although, often you can cancel without penalty anyway)
Then go for it- fortune definetly favours the brave:beer:0
