Bagging a bargain UK hotel from Londontown.com

I booked via LT.com after I had checked the prices at expotel.com. Expotel were about £5 cheaper for one night. We used the Thistle at Heathrow. Paid £76 for the privilige and got £100 credited back. It really does work. Unfortunately the small print basically says "once in a lifetme useage" so go big if you can as you won't be able o do it again0

Thistle Dyce Skean Dhu near Aberdeen is £80 inc taxes for dates in July. This is for a 'Deluxe Double Room', breakfast.
It is cheaper on ActiveHotels but the room is not called the same; 'Superior', which is £45 (I am sure this is the same as Deluxe), or 'Executive' £65. Breakfast is included, but is on as a special offer.
Clearly it's cheaper, but is there a good way to go about it so that I don't get done on a technicality?0 -
phone up Skean Dhu and ask the difference in rooms. Breakfast could be the problem though.0

Hi Bob and Sue.
The Expotel seems to not include tax on but it has a line that says excluding VAT.
Did your rate checked with Expotel say that? Everything else seems exactly the same in terms of room description, cancellation policy etc.
I would love to take advantage of this.
thanks,

VAT is 17.5%. I did a screen shot of expotel's result and claimed as per the londontown rules. They emailed me back and I spoke to them. They did a check on expotel's site while I waited and then agreed to the match PLUS £100 back after the stay. When we got back from our holiday there was an email waiting to contact them. Spoke to them on the phone and the £100 was refunded within about a week. The rules are strict around the cancellation notice. LondonTown does not take any money up front. It is a "pay on leaving" service. Most of the hotel sites on the web require an up-front payment. You just need to find a service that doesn't require the money straight away, only requires your credit card details for the guarantee of not turning up. Venere.com is a similar site to expotel in that respect. Expotel is not always the cheapest (like most sites - some prices are good and some not so good. Try venere.com too if you have a particular hotel in mind0 -
smick100 - the advantage is that if for some reason london town does not agree - you can cancel the hotel provided it is not too much short notice0

Yes you need to contact them within 48 hrs. If they dont agree, cancell and rebook cheaper option. Read the t&cs over and over a few times to familiarise yourself.
There wont always be a deal available for everywhere all dates.I find, the more flexible date wise and location wise the better your chances.0 -
right, i think i have found a deal that i would like to take up but want to check it with you all first
