I'm sure your hat is very nice …and that it would go well with one small carry-on suitcase!
They give no explanation for why it took 4.5 hours - presumably to get his bags off. I am just interested to know whether this is genuinely a reason to claim exceptional circs? They seem to imply that because the removal of the drunk was in Abu Dhabi, (even though this then delayed a flight out of Heathrow) this allows them to exempt themselves from EC Council Regulation on flight delays?
Oh - this happened this summer - August 20140 -
The short answer to your question is: it could be. It depends upon when the incident happened and what efforts the airline took to mitigate the delay. But you probably won't be told this until you start legal action.0

So now it has been 3 months ince my flight cancelation. The only update I received was from their Facebook page, saying that they are waiting for a reply from Etihad Regional ( I booked through Air Berling, but I guess the flight was with Etihad?!?!)
Do you know if I should raise a complaint with Etihad regiona as well? Although I went to their website and couldn't find any details of how to complain.0 -

You are waiting for a refund for a cancelled flight? (You're not due compensation, as it was an ATC strike.) The refund should come from "Air Berling" or whoever you booked with. Three months is a v excessive time to wait for this. If you paid by CC, you could try a charge back too?0 -
Dear experts,
I've registered to report success with AF compensation for delayed rerouting flight.
Our original AF flight from Lisbon to St-Petersburg (Russia) via Paris on Sept 16 was cancelled because of the strike. At the Air France booth in the airport we were offered a rerouting flight via Frankfurt (TAP Portugal/ Lufthansa) with transfer time of one hour.
At the check-in it turned out that the TAP flight is delayed by one hour and we would miss the Lufthansa leg. Eventually, they moved us to a direct but night TAP flight, so our departure from Lisbon was delayed by more than 8 hours.
Nobody offered any drinks or food vouchers. I kept our lunch bill just in case as I hadn’t a slightest idea we could be entitled to any delay compensation before I’d found your forum.
I used your template, attached the lunch bill and sent the claim through the Customer Care form on the KLM website where I had bought the original tickets.
In a week they replied that we were entitled to get compensation 600 Euro per passenger.
Thank you! It’s so great to know that we have rights also not only obligations.0 -

Advice needed please
My Emirates flight schedule on 2nd Nov was as follows:
KHI (12.10pm) to DXB (1hr 15min stop over) to MAN (18.25)
Was actually happened was that the flight from KHI set off over an hour late, which meant I missed my connecting flight to MAN. Emirates put me on the next flight which was the 3rd Nov (03:00) which arrived in MAN on time at (07:00).
Overall this means I arrived at my final destination over 12 hours later than I should have done. They did put me in a hotel and allow me to eat at the buffet, but it was the inconvenience that annoyed me, and having to call work and cancel my shift.
The reason they gave in KHI for the delay was late arrival of incoming aircraft. Once on board, the captain blamed air traffic control issues in Dubai for the delay.
So... My question is, do I have a case? I'm not sure if I do because we didn't depart from an EU airport, only arrived.0 -
Apologies to all...even after reading the sticky ,i am still unsure if this is the correct thread or not for my message.
Myself and two children ,aged 12 and 13 at the time of flight:
Dep: (British Airways) Atlanta tues 20/07/2010 @ 9.15pm to Arr: Heathrow Wed 21/07/2010 @ 10.15am and then onwards to Dublin on Aer Lingus flight at 2.15pm that afternoon.
Having boarded the plane at Atlanta on time,we were informed there would be a short delay..i cannot remember the reason. Then we received several other announcements as each estimated departure time elapsed.
After sitting on the plane for 4hours and 41 mins,we eventually took off at 1.56am.
Subsequently,we arrived at Heathrow at 3.38pm,not 10.15am as intended.
As we had missed our connecting flight to Dublin, and there were no other available flights..we stayed in London overnight and were put on an Aer Lingus flight to Dublin the following morning Thursday(22/07/2010).
I purchased these flights through ebookers.com as one transaction...costing a total of £1,870.57.
I am unsure if Atl/Lon/Dub counts as one trip or two..and if i am entitled to claim,do I write to British Airways or Aer Lingus?
Thanks in advance for any advice,,,,and apologies again for my ignorance:o0
