Flight delay compensation, all other EU airlines

They only translate the first page of their website that says they work independently and that they will give the airline a chance to reply. That being said, I am currently on holiday and there is a significant number of German speaking guests here so maybe I could ask them to translate anything else. Otherwise I shall call when I get back.
I must say I considered 3 months fairly reasonable to chase my request so was pretty disappointed in their initial response. I know my claim is valid, 8 know GermanWings are hoping I will go away, I just want to try and cross every T/dot every I before I submit court papers so they have no reason to say I jumped too soon. Would be so much easier if they had to do automatic refunds.
Dare I say, lord knows how this will all go after the B word. ??.0 -
Can anybody Help. My Wife and I were delayed 3 hours 40 minutes on a flight from Verona to Manchester on 22nd September 2018. They made no attempt to communicate with any passengers, we had no offers of food or drink & they changed the gate without telling anybody, somebody noticed the change on the departure board. I put a claim forward to TUI. They have rejected my claim stating the reason for the delay was that the Airport was closed. There were still flights taking off and landing so it couldn't have been closed. Can anybody tell me how I can find out if the airport classed itself as closed on that day?
Thanks in advanceTotal claimed so far....over £40k! All for friends and relatives, who needs claim companies when we've got Martin!0 -
Was this TOM2637? If so, I'd say it's unlikely that the airport was closed as EUClaim says you might be due compensation.0

Parents had a cancelled flight Tuesday in a small airport in Germany. No desk for that company (Wizzair) in the airport and passangers offerrd no help to rebook/ re route, but was able to log in online and re-book them for the next earliest flight which was today. Their first night of accommodation was covered somehow by the airline(after airport staff made calls to time of hotels), but they were left to get there by themselves ( got given a hand written note with the address). The rest of the nights theyve chosen to stay in the same hotel and pay themselves. No meals were provided at all. They have kept all receipts. Do I stand a chance of recovering their costs for transport + hotels, or did I mess it up by re-booking manually online? They were given no phone number to contact and arrange anything. The company's website for cancellations and disruptions had a list of all cancelled flights and advice to log in an re-book. The following day I did find the number for disrupted flights but when I asked about hotel the call handler kept saying "send form for compensation"0

aleen, your parents may also be due compensation. depending on the reason for cancellation. Downlaod the superb guide by Vauban.
For future reference, if an airline cancels or delays your flight excessively, you don't have to re-book on the same airline. You can recover costs of alternative flights if the airline doesn't or won't arrange this for you.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Yes, the law is on your (or your parents) side. First step is to send copies of receipts to Wizz Air and ask for reimbursement. You can refer Wizz Air to EU261 article 9.1.aleen, your parents may also be due compensation. depending on the reason for cancellation. Downlaod the superb guide by Vauban.

Thank you, they've come back real quick and apparently agreeing to refunds under Article 9, I will send receipts now and hope for the best as the cost exceeds 400 euros.
I have also in my email requested compensation in regards to Article 7, but they have come back to say it's to do with 'adverse weather conditions in XXX airport' ( to clarify, in the airport they flew out). I have after that put the flight details through Bott&Co just to have a look and the decision was ' Unfortunately we don't have jurisdiction for handling the claim on your behalf.' What does this mean?
Any recommendations for other no win no fee companies with decent fees?0 -
It could be the cancellation was related to the snow that hit Germany last week. If so, there's probably no compensation due. Check the flight on EUClaim.com.0

Aleen, was the flight to be operated by Wizz Air UK?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Well this website says it's not eligible for compensation. But I've checked another delayed flight that I had last year ( Easyjet) where I've been rejected compensation and been told it's weather related, and that one seems eligible. I take it if this website says no, it's pretty much no?

richardw, not sure? The flight was from Germany to Romania, so how do I find out which Wizz Air operates it, I think there are only two, the UK one and the Hungarian one ? It was paid with a UK card, but bought on my mother's account ( based in Romania).0
