I said at 7k "I can't do this anymore, I'm gonna have to jog the rest" but he said "go on then, give up" which he knew would wind me up (competitive you see!) so I carried on.

Oh my god, I would be the same! :rotfl: :o I'd rather die than give up if someone said that to me!

Can I borrow your hubby? You could loan him out as a personal trainer! :T

Lol his brother is actually a personal trainer! And pretty hot too so he had a lot of ladies amongst his clientelle! But he has now followed in his older bro's footsteps and joined the poice.

I did nearly die, but feel fine this morning, I thought I was going to ache!

At least being fit has it's advantages for him at work, he has had criminals run away when he has tried to arrest them, then when he has given chase they have stopped and said "you've got me, you're too quick mate".

He used to do body building and was huge (16 stone and 6'2"), but then he started to train for a marathon and he realised his muscles were too heavy to drag all that way! He is still pretty big but has lost some of his muscle bulk to help his running.

I secretly quite enjoy going to the gym with him, cos the men look at his muscles and the women sneak a glance too, but I'm the one with him! (And I am by far not the most thin/glamorous woman in there!) All this wearing posh lycra and make up to the gym isn't for me. I am pretty groomed in every day life, but at the gym the hair goes up, and on comes the baggy t shirt!

Wish my OH was fitter than me....I love a bit of competition, but he cant be bothered with too much exercise, sometimes I manage to get him to come for a run with me but he has to stop and walk a little so I carry on and leave him with the dog lol.

Ive been for a 3 mile run this morning...I was hot and had achey legs for some reason. I did come home and do some press ups and had a play on Wii fit for half an hour to.

I like it....especially the yoga on it and the muscle workouts are good. I dont find the aerobic part of it too challenging but its fun none the less. You dont realise that you are working out as its fun.
A friend of mine popped round and had a go on it and she is a complete couch potatoe and she sweated and grunted fairly.:rotfl: She's now gonna convince her hubbie to buy her one so she can lose weight.

    Thinking of buying one?

Hello Parallel Universe, very kind of you to offer to help. I am reasonably fit and run occasionally and go to the gym and spinning classes regularly. I am 5 3' and about 61kg. My concern is that my arms seem really week. When I go to an exercise class where we are required to do push ups or raise ourselves up sideways on one arm, I am absolutely rubbish!

What can I do to get stronger? I already do weights on the machines and have been doing so for a year but I don't think I've managed to get any stronger.
Not buying clothes for a year - it's liberating!

Sounds like you need to up the amount of weight you are lifting. Light weights with lots of reps will keep you trim, but heavy weights and low reps will build muscle.

Also, if you are comfortable, free weights are said to build better muscle than machines as you have to stabilise the whole movement yourself.
