    Thank God I'm not alone;)

I don't believe any of the machines calculated calorie burns - They all seem artificially high. Although bear in mind that it's easier to slow down without noticing on the CT, whereas a treadmill runs at a constant speed.

I've never been a big runner but going out to do 4miles (6.8Km) today. Not looking forward to it and I will beging slowly. Using the old run/walk/run/walk intervals. I'll post back here later to enusre you guys know I made it back in one piece!:rotfl:

I think they are artificially high too, but especially cross trainer, I am afraid it just seems too good to be true to me.

Good luck with the run, don't push it too hard at the start, that is always my mistake! And time the intervals properly otherwise it is easy to cheat!

I know what you mean. My biggest failing is the old too much too soon syndrome. When I get knackered real quick my motivation drops and I end up breaking my routine.

This time I'm going to start slow, build up and not expect instant results....Oh and stop drinkng too!! :p

Yeah, that's the same with me John Boy.. ;)

I try too hard at first and then overdo the jogging part.. I need to time running and walking and then slowly build on it... rather than just trying to run for as long as I can.. because that doesn't work for me.. well, not at first anyhow.. :o

Yup sounds the exact same as me.

I've ordered myself a digital sports watch with stopwatch and more importantly, a countdown feature. This will help me time my run/walk intervals. I had a look around for a watch at the weekend, but ended up buying one last night from a popular online auction site.......

Umm I can't get on to ebay on the wrok comp as it won't let you on a lot of sites:(

I'll stick one on here when I go home later.

    P.s.

This isn't a sales pitch - Just to show the others what I bought!

Lol - The p.s. was directed at anyone in charge of this thread who could potentially decide that I was trying to flog stuff from my ebay account.
