  • The way I hear it is LA Fitness charge people widely different prices for the same membership, I was wondering what others pay, compared to their list price on the website.
I've got LA Fitness all gyms (except knightsbrdge) access for £40 a month. Very useful as I move around with work.
    Friendly greeting!

Mine is a small independent gym in North Devon and I pay top price membership which is £31 a month - that is for anytime, unlimited gym use and classes.

They offer Spinning, HIIT, Legs Bums & Tums, Pump and Chasamba. Modern equipment and super friendly & helpful staff. Worth every penny.

My OH and I are members at the local YMCA , we have unrestricted use of the gym and a lot of classes are included if we want them. Basic showers only available, no pool no sauna. Discounted rate due to my work, £55 a month for both of us.

If I could match that price elsewhere I would probably move away from the YMCA as there are a few things I find irritating including the compete lack of interest from staff.

They are also the most discriminatory company I have come across for years, when they did some refurbishment which took away the showers and changing room for a while they gave out small neck towels to the members as a thank you for supporting them. My husband was allowed one, but I was not as they were not for the ladies as we would get something later...but we never did.

£40 per month for a local one off fitness centre
Unlimited use of gym pool and all the steam rooms whirlpool etc
Limited classes and swimming classes free
Excellent staff-workout programme updated every 3 months with personal trainer included on changeover programmes.
well equipped gym and cardio suite .Very rarely have to wait to use anything and never have to stalk the treadmills !
Blood pressure, and fitness levels weight etc done on a programme change.
Unlimited advice given and to me worth every penny.
Non members can use the pool which is £6.50 a time :eek:and the gym is also £6.50 a time:eek: So not many use it !
Nordic walking. kettle bells, and other classes £3 for members which I think is good value :)
All in all think I am quite lucky as its only 5 mins drive from me.
But I don't have much choice as the council gym and pool local (ish) to me is total rubbish but is a lot cheaper.

Debt free and Mortgage free thank you to all for your encouragement and advice

This is slightly different from previous posts, but if anyone feels they can't afford the gym while exercise would benefit their health, there is a scheme called 'exercise on referral', for people with certain diagnosed conditions (e.g. back pain, high blood pressure, diabetes). You GP or other health professional can refer you if you have a qualifying condition and using the gym is either free or discounted for the initial period (it depends on the local authority).
What is offered also varies, but one of the main benefits is that you will be assessed by an instructor qualified to work with people with your type of condition.
(thought I mention it because it may benefit some people)

Mine is £50 per month, but all classes and swimming is included within that. I don't pay for anything extra, even personal training sessions. There's over 50 classes, and it is at a hotel so keeps the lycra clad stedheads out; I can't stand posers who just want to look like Hulk Hogan in the 90s, with their orange tans and oversized biceps.

Prices from £10.99 a month (although £15.99 a month is more typical)

    http://www.thegymgroup.com/

No contact, and all of their gyms are open 24 hours a day (except Newcastle).

You can get a £5.00 day pass to try them out, or better still check out their facebook page/local gym and get yourself a free trial day pass. :)
