They said if I did that then I technically wouldn't be classed as a new customer as they would just re-activate my old account.
Oh well.
I never worked in this department but there was a scheme where if you called to cancel after installation but within the 14 day cooling off period they could offer 25% or 50% off for 12 months. It was cheaper to give a discount than pay the engineer to go take all the equipment back.
This was a good few months ago and I only saw it done once but it could be worth a try.0 -

i am due to get sky adsl and phone this week. can i sign up to this offer (never had sky tv before) or can i get my partner to sign up alternatively...will they install a dish /provide a sky plus box for free so the total cost would be about £120? i am already due to get cashback (£80 tracking) on the adsl /phone install.0

Ive just had mine installed this morning : The entertainment plus package) I didnt use the 50% off sub, but I got totally free install plus £100 in M and S Vouchers plus £126 cashback through topcashback. £226 in vouchers and cash seemed a better deal than the 50% possible sub discount.0

i was planning to takeover my mums sky account and put it into my name using the code and cancelling my mums account. I have neevr had sky before and so i believe i am a new customer. However when we called to cancel my mums account i was told that the code would be rejected straight away as although i am a new customer the house has already been used.
I explained that MSE had stated that a new customer is someone who has not had sky for previous 12 month and was told that MSE are not the sky experts and are only trying to get a commission and attract people to their website. Obviously the woman did not know what she was talking about.
although i was offered an alternative discount which was substantial, but not as low as the code would have given i refused to deal at the time as i am not sure if what they are saying is true, and also because they were plain rude.
some clarification would be appreciated, thank you0 -
you cant swap it around, their systems apparently do detect.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Goes by house, not just name.0 -

Sounds like she new exactly what she was talking about, commission for at least 2500 sign ups and 7500 new leads, not bad for a mornings work.0 -
i meant more that she did not get the concept of MSE trying to save people money as opposed to being some company purely looking for attention rather than what she said being false...thank you for replies, just a shame that deal could not have been had0

MSE is not a charity, they are making lots of money via referrals and are indeed very attention seeking, fair play to them they are pretty damn good at it as well.
They state that they mark paid referral links with a " * " haven't seen them with this offer so not sure if that's gone by the wayside after the sale or not.0
