what a cracking deal, I'd have snapped this up if I hadn't just got an Eos350d.
That the missus who is too thick to use it doesn't even like. Sigh.0 -
Got the last boxed one at Jessops in the Bullring- it is lovely!
I guess I "fancy myself as semi pro" as someone said:o :rotfl:
I have a little compact olympus which is nice but failed often on the portrait front really-frustrating as I wanted to take pics of the kids! I shall keep this to though as it is much smaller.
Got brilliant service (see my 5* post) from Chris the manager, not only a great camera, but also the instore fuji leather case offer (it is an odd shape-assymetric so a standard case would be less good) but a price match on a UV filter (which I was buying anyway) -they hadn't the cheaper, so I got a better one for the price, AND £10 off for the effort of taking a screen printout in when I collected my case.
I might have paid a few ££ for a new camera, but I wont be going to Venture and similar to pay £££££ when I can take shots like these:

No doubt a 'new line' will be coming out, there always is!! Cameras are like PC's, your new one is almost immediately superceded by something better.
The thing is, it's not all about megapixels, its the quality of the lens and CCD, and these are excellent value for £135 (after Quidco).:j:beer:
Well, they have to try I guess, Chris at Jessops wasn't at all surprised when I declined (I have orderd a couple Of 1GB cards for £25 via amazon- I need them soon- may not be quite the cheapest Iknow).0 -

Anyone else got one and where can i find it cheaper?
Also, would like a carrying case/bag and the picture card. What size card is best to buy?
Thanks
Sharon
Tis worth getting a UV filter bothto protect the lens and to, well filter UV:rotfl: - takes a bit of haze off views and seems to intensify blue skies too.
I got a Jessops for the price of a hoya and it is great- the lens cap fits too.0 -
Nice camera. The only thing that puts me off really is the size of the thing. I had a look at one in a store and its massive. Compared to other similar spec cameras its a bit big and bulky. The lens sticks out a mile and doesn't retract much into the body of the camera when turned off. When taking this to days out or events like concerts this makes it very difficult when compared to something like a Minolta Dimage Z Series.0

agree with this totally- it is quite heavy too (4 AA batteries ). But this makes it quite stable and easy to hold. It also means I shall keep hold of my teeny olympus too!0 -
Nice pictures, anonymousie!
The only thing that is stopping me from buying this is reading a review of it on amazon where it said there was no anti-shake which made it difficult to get good pictures...
...do you find this camera easy to use?0 -

That what I thought. It's pretty much the same size as an SLR. I just bought a Lumix (panasonic/Leica) DMC-FZ8 from Dixons for £201 delivered. Similar specs but quite a lot smaller. Dixons online are usually £249 for this camera but they price-matched the (prossibly grey import) version from Ebuyer including the £10 google checkout discount!
The lumix's viewfinder is much higher resolution, I found the 6500fd's quite pixelated. If you only use the screen its no big deal.0 -
I had a look at one of these in Costco today and to be honest I thought it was a bit plasticky and didn't look as robust as I would expect a true SLR camera to be. Similar price to this deal though - about £145 I think. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0

I've got a Minolta 7hi, which as you say feels much more robust - in reality this makes the camera heavier, hence why I'm considering one of these.
