as mentioned my account was closed and i no longer have the account number
would the following letter be ok do you think??
Dear Sir/Madam,
RE: account in the name of Name
I am writing to request a fully comprehensive list of all the default charges for direct debit, unauthorised overdrafts and standing orders I have paid over the last six years.
Unfortunately Due to me losing my job and being unable to pay into my account for some time you chose to close it and sell the debt from my outstanding overdraft to a debt recovery agency. The only details I have are my personal details which I have listed below.
Name
Address
Date of birth
The account I had at the time of closure was I believe a graduate account as I had not long finished university. I have been told that this information I have given you should be enough to enable you to forward me the information I require. Should you require any more of my personal information please do not hesitate to contact me.
I have enclosed a cheque for the maximum statutory charge of £10. If you are unable to provide this data, I will accept a copy of my statements going back six years; I understand that statements on their own are not covered by the Data Protection Act 1998, yet I’m not requesting the statements per se, but the charges, which I’m entitled to by law.
If you store any of the older records on microfiche, please be aware that the Information Commissioner deems this to be a relevant filing system under the Act. As such, any microfiche data must be sent to me in fully legible and comprehensible form.
I look forward to your response within 40 days, as Barclays Bank is obliged to reply under the Data Protection Act. If not I shall seek remedy from the Information Commissioner.

I've been away from a major bank for 3.5 years, and closed the account. Can I still claim for the last few years I was with that bank?0

Ive seen all the stuff on the tv about claiming charges and im not sure if it applies to me but i have paid thousands in charges but my story is complicated.
I have paid i think over £3000 in charges to a credit card i had (marbles) which i no longer have as i cleared the debt off in feb 2006 as the account had defaulted.
I also think i have paid around £2000 in charges to an old royal bank of scotland account i had which i no also cleared and no longer have details off.
How would i go about getting the account numbers so i can get the staements to check out exactly how much charges i received.
I tried calling both banks and they are unwilling to give me any assistance (i expected as much) i asked for an address to write to marbles but the asian call center guy didnt have a clue what i was talking about and was speaking to me as though i was an idiot.
Can i claim back the charges even though i dont have the account numbers?? (i still have one of the old Royal Bank Of Scotland cards they issued me with)0 -
I had this with a credit card account and a loan account. I wrote letters, similar to template letter 1, but instead of putting an account number I replaced it with Re:charges levied against an old account. Both companies were excellent and sent me the details of my old accounts (they can trace it from your address). Addresses, got them from google!!0

Im having trouble getting marbles details for writing them a letter but RBS shouldnt be an issue as my G/F works for them in their fraud center and she tells me that they are putting something in place where tey are going to auto matically refund customers ( i doubt that will include cloded defaulted accounts)
The thing about my RBS account was that it was registered to my dads address at the time it defaulted and we had, had a fight and were not talking and i was unemployed so had no reason to check/use the account and as it was overdrawn i kept getting charge after charge till it defaulted it was only when my dad opened it (we both have exactly the same name) that he got in touch. The kicker is, i had to use the money i had saved to pay off my marbles card to pay off the RBS debt. I paid extra than what i owed to RBS so that i would have cash in the acct but because it defaulted there was nowhere to put it so they sent me a cheque for £100 which i couldnt cash as i didnt have an account which is still owed to me. I have lost the cheque in amongs all my paper work (ive searched for it) and the bank wont re issue me with a new one till i can prove i never cashed the original one (like they cant find out) so im deffo owed at least £100.:rotfl:
Does anyone know an address i can write to for marbles please? their website just have 24hour phone numbers which are in asia.
Any help is much appreciated0 -

Also the branch name that held your account will be helpful.
You'll find the addresses you need in the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature.0 -
Hi
can anyone help?
Both my husband and I had an account with MBNA. When we closed it we destroyed all our statements and do not have anything with the account numbers on. Are we able to make a claim in just our names, or do we need the account numbers to ask for statements.
I can't even find a number on my bank statements from that time. Could I ask my current bank for details as they would have paid the direct debits?
MBNA should have our details on record, but will they refuse to send out details without the account number?0 -
I closed a credit card from capital one and First Direct closed the account due to not clearing the overdraft on time...ooops!! can i claim old charges from them too?0
