I think the previous owner of my house must have had a glasshouse in the garden, (there was about 20 panes of glass behind some brambles) I've been picking up nasty shardes for 6 months! so much so I wont take my dog there, she's with mum!!

I'd like to put a glasshouse in, but have been concerned as when my dog has her crazy half hour she loves to bounce off things, so would be afraid with the glass.

We've got a polycarbonate sheet as a skylight and due to the dual skin it does go to look dirty, with moisture trapped between the layers.

I've wondered about a 'standard glass' but to use some of the sticky plastic sheet (like sticky back plastic) to protect and hold the pane together if it breaks.

If your garden is large enough, fenced off a glass house should be no more dangerous than anything else in your garden.
I was raised around green houses as a child, and so will my kids, the more they understand how it works, the less likely you are to get football type breakages as they get older.
