Nope, I know quite a few who are going to help out, so their child has a room at their parents.

Many otherwise would not get a break and trust me £14 pw is a bargain for a night off.

So rather than many people being more than happy to pay, they are happy to let other members of the family pay. What about those whose family cannot afford to, or those who have no family?

You say it is no big deal, yet many housing organisations are predicting a dramatic rise in rent arrears, evictions and resultant homelessness.

Well in 14 mos time we will see how many affected do just that when the official figures are introduced.

It's like anything - mortage rates go up and they say XXX will be homeless and the figures are way lower than predicted normally.

Don't forget when they changed the LHR rate to shared for under 35 and to lowest 30% of rents, they said the same.

Not seen many people living on the streets as a result, people just paid extra or moved into shared accomodation etc.

Most recent figures show an 18% rise in homeless applications, in one London borough a rise of 245%. This doesn't include the homeless population who don't even bother to apply as they realise they'll be waiting for years/infinitely with low priority.

Because you don't see it, doesn't mean it isn't happening, with more to follow.

A rise in homeless applications doesn't necessarily mean the equivalent rise in homelessness - it can just mean that more people have sussed out the system from sites like this.

It is usually used on the Child Support Board.

PWC - Parent With Care ( the parent the child lives with)

NRP- Non-Residential Parent (the parent who doesn't live with the child)

The idea is to bring Housing Benefit payments in the public sector in line with private sector.

Will council tenants be receiving the same rates of housing benefit as those who claim LHA?

I thought a percentage of rent would be required to be paid even if the full amount of rent was less than what someone would claim in LHA for a private rental.

If that's the case, then it's not really bringing it in line with the private sector but I am really not sure about all this.
Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.

I don't think that is what seven-day-weekend means.

I think she means that private sector tenants have always only got HB for the amount of bedrooms they need. They have always had to make up the shortfall needed to have spare rooms.
