That may be so,but I think these days 10 is way to old. I'm not whittering I am stating my opinion on the whole thing, and there will different feelings against it,but as always I will pick myself up and dust myself off and get on with it as I always doDon't expect everyone to understand your journey, especially If they've never had to walk your path!!0

Out of interest, I just checked housing in my area too - no less than 9 one bed properties this week!
And one more shared ownership.
I fully support this change and I believe, with a few exceptions and that is why there is a discretionary fund, that people on disability benefits should use it to fund the extra bedroom if they need it for their disability.
That is exactly why they receive hell of a lot more money than other benefit claimants.0 -
I was not made aware of these changes until I moved, and I think along with these changes homechoice need to change the way they advertise houses on the list, list wether it is 2 large double rooms etc, as someone like me who needs to downsize can only refuse 3 times, so would need to know this before bidding on property'sDon't expect everyone to understand your journey, especially If they've never had to walk your path!!0

I have to say it really annoys me with the amount of people...saying its to get the lazy not working off the bums and out to work, and people with spare rooms, what about the innocents in this ? I work part time and have 2 children 1 girl 5 and 1 boy 3 years old. I have always worked, never signed on in my 33 years, and I pay the same bills everyone else does who owns there home..so I made a few bad decisions early on my life, which has prevented me getting on the property ladder. I moved into a small 2 bedroom house when I had my little girl, and then obviously 2 years later my little boy,on enquiring to my local council they deemed the single room in the house to small for my children and so we have the house we are in now. Which is a 3 bed,but because my children are under 10 I will fall foul of the reform. It's unfair that the council deemed the last room to small but now want to charge me £60 pm for what we have now,and just to top it all off my sons bedroom has a floor space of 5.5 square foot, we had to adapt it to fit a bed ....it's ludicrous that I should pay £60 pm for this. I just wish people would stop piping up and tarring everyone in social housing with the same brush, yes there may be people who deserve to pay up, but there are a whole lot more who are going to suffer :-( me included
I can assure you that you don't "pay the same bills as those who own their own home". For one you'd get no help with mortgage, so would pay 100% and it would likely be double if not more in mortgage than rent. Then you'd need to pay for repairs/maintenance, building insurance, this is minimum.
You work 16 hours between 2 of you, if income is a problem then you need to work more hours.0 -
I work 16 hours as I have 2 children to take care to,when my position changes I will certainly GO BACK to full time work, but until it does this is my situation....I love how you suggestions come all so easily when you know nothing of the situation.i already said my partner had his back operated on,and when he is fit then WE WILL change our situation,so yes we do work 16 hours between 2 of us ....because that's how it has to be for now.....should have known people would judge when I posted. My situation is the way it is for now,but will scrape by until we can change it. And your quote is not strictly true,my dad has copd and has not worked since my mum died 5 years ago, and he get helps with his mortgage, quite a bit actually, as for repairs etc ....yeah glad I don't have any of themDon't expect everyone to understand your journey, especially If they've never had to walk your path!!0

5.5 square foot would be around 1 foot wide x 5 feet long (or squarer and the size of a single kitchen cupboard) - unles my brain has ccompletely deserted me this morning, you've got that wrong.
You are working the bare minimum of hours in order to claim benefits so you don't really count as working and contributing.
You need to increase your hours - the benefit changes are partly about making people take rresponsibility for their families again. Too many people sit back and allow themselves to feel helpless.
Fact is, you aren't helpless - once you change your mindset, it will be easier to find a way through.0 -

It's temporary then so you just need to work out a budget to get you through.
Try the old style or debt free wannabe boards.0 -
Its a room that the stairs come up into,so has a huge box over the stairs but maybe measurements are wrong....omg there you go again judging lol. I don't work the minimum amount of hours to claim benefits....I do it because I have to at the MOMENT,so is a temporary position for me, I'll have you know I have paid my share of taxes and never claimed off them until recently so maybe don't be so quick to judge heyDon't expect everyone to understand your journey, especially If they've never had to walk your path!!0

you will have every opportunity to change your circumstances then.
so spare a thought for people who cant .... to see people complaining, when it appears to us that you have choices, even when they are choices that you dont wish to make, is a smack in the face.
there a plenty that have it harder than you and who will continue to have it harder than you regardless of what they try to do. because they have no choice... what youre experiencing now is what some people have to live with forever!0 -

It's not judging to point out someone 's facts are wrong.
It also isn't that temporary, going by your other posts - you seemed to be managing to arrange to up your hours when you believed you needed to work 24 to claim tax credits.0
