Hi,
I've got a small Baby in the house & used to spend ages on my housework - ALL CHANGE now!!
I have approx 1 1/2 hours a day to shower, eat, stick washing machine on & prepare tea.
My question is : Is it possible to keep a Clean & Tidy House with about 45 mins a day to spare? All my friends have returned to work full-time & they employ cleaners but I'm much much happier at home with my Daughter & no way can we afford a cleaner.
Any TIPS on prioritising main tasks for the day, I seem to dawdle trying to get 1 room perfect & then the overall effect is not Brill!! Thank you Anybody out there who was once as scatty as I was!!Never-too-dizzy-too-learn

You must have one tidy house!!
I think we probably spend around 45 mins a week on ours...0 -
Thanks I suspect it's me trying to have everything as neat as a pin & not sticking to the basics like sticking blech down the loo whilst the receipts drawer is tidy LOL!!!

Hi twinklybev,
We have a recent thread on housework routines so I'll merge your thread into it. This older thread might help too: cleaning routine?

nice.
Having thought about it though, I think I could do with cleaning the house a little more - I currently have a smilie face drawn in the dust on the TV in my room. Oops.0 -
Well I thought about this.......and this is what I came up with......
After supper........make sure the sink is clear of pots etc, and just swill the sink round and dry off ........leave your dishcloth in a weak solution of bleach over night, in the morning wring out the cloth and wipe over the sink bowl, draining board and taps before swilling the bleach water down the sink.
Before you go to bed, just a quick tidy, papers etc away cushions plumped up so when you come down the room looks ok. Buy a timer and set the washer to wash over night, so set it when you have a spare minute......
Try and clean the bathroom after you have used it, I wipe round the shower, wash basin etc each morning just takes a couple of minutes. Each night when you go to bed squirt some bleach down the loo and leave overnight, wipe over the toilet handle......
20 minutes a day should be enough to clean a room, start in the same place, dust with a damp cloth, stops the dust flying about, then hoover, do a room a day........ I only clean windows inside once a month, damp microfibre cloth and dry off with an old linen tea towel takes an extra 5 minutes.
If you have room to leave your ironing board up, 10 minutes will soon diminish some of the pile.......try and not crease clothes when they are dry, careful folding and you can get away with a lot........one thing I do iron is bed linen, I do love freshly ironed linen on my bed..........:D
Remember you are not super woman.........a little dust and dirt doesn't hurt anyone............if you can find some of tootles old posts you will find a post about how she 'USED' to clean.......made me feel very tired......... :eek:Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
just joined flylady, hope it does me some good, I need a kick up the backside!
Saw this today and thought of some of you:
trying to clean the house while the kids are still growing
is like trying to shovel snow while it's still snowing
I have a magnet with that quote on on the front of my fridge. I do try though, every day to keep the place tidy.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0
