There's also Moggins' household manual, which has detailed cleaning lists in it.We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0

I read on here to do one room a day, I thought that was a cracking idea and I've started to implement it :j0
-
i have a basic plan.
Monday - bathroom and upstairs hoover
Tuesday - our bedroom and bed change
Wednesday - kids room and bed changes
thursday - Lounge , hallway and porch
Friday - Kitchen.
and from this i then do any extra jobs in each room as they occur. on these days are when i give the room a good clean and then each day if i see something needing doing in another room then i'll do this.
i do one loads of washing a day , at night and once done clothes go on airer in the eveing. it is usually dry by next day and then it is taken off , ironed and put away. i was kitchen and lounge floors every night after dinner and once kids are in bed.
once a month i do jobs such as clean windows wash nets , curtains , sort kids toy boxes , sort drawers and cupboards, clean fridge/freezer/washing machine and cooker.
i don't have any set cleaning routine for a weekend as i like to keep it free so i can have time with family.
my list may not seem like i do much, but it hard to remember all i do do.0 -
I find having a set daily routine really helps me to get all my jobs done. So I tend to do the same things every day, for example:
On return from the school run I hang out any wet washing(weather permitting) then go straight up stairs, make the beds & tidy each room upstairs. Then its the bathroom, quick flick around with a cloth to make it look presentable & smelling nice:D Downstairs we go and wash the breakfast pots & wipe all surfaces. Mop kitchen and hallway floor. Vac dining room & lounge, tidy up as I go. Vac stairs, landing & 3 bedrooms. Dust each room.
Every friday the bathroom gets a deep clean and extra things like ironing, cleaning windows get done in between if I'm not going out. Bedding gets washed every other friday. Washing machine gets loaded everyday. My daily stuff looks alot on paper but only takes me just over a hour to do so leaves me free for the rest of the day to do as I please. HTHRebel No 220 -
Saturday I do the washing, it all gets put on the rads this time of year. Sunday afternoon is the only day I clean - and this Sunday it's not happening as we're doing DIY. Spose it's lucky I only live in a small house or some bits would never get touched! when out of the ordinary jobs need doing such as taking all stuff out of kitchen cupboards, it means that the ordinary jobs don't get done that week, except bathroom and toilet.
I don't iron, I buy nothing that needs ironing, and I have techniques when drying to reduce creasing for OH's shirts. If he wants shirts that will need ironing, well he's going to have to do it.
I allow 3 items only on each surface in every room so it's a doddle to dust. I'm feeling specially virtuous today cos I've been in the spare room and the airing cupboard having a throw out. If I've not used it for 6 months, then unless it's seasonal, it's gone.
Yep, you can call me lazy...I work long and anti social hours, so though I like a clean and tidy house, it's got to be that way without too much effort!0 -
My lists are huge, but detailed, I find it better as I tick off as I go, so not doubling what I have done, daily, weekly and 'to do' sort of whenever, helps me be more organised. One day I might be more organised...........

I've just read the flylady net website - that sent a shudder down my spine. I have to say I don't have any voices in my head saying nasty things to myself about when I do leave a mess on occasion. Sounds like a schizoid site to me....do they really send you 30 emails a day?

LOL, I've resisted the urge to click after reading about it, doesn't sound like my cup of tea, and yes apparently they can send 100's in a day :eek:0 -

Don't dismiss it out of hand. You just have to read it selectively - the ideas are sound about routines and changes of attitude, even if they are a bit buried in amercianism and commercialism. You can sign up to receive one summary e-mail a day rather than lots, or join in on the Flylady thread where the best of the ideas are being shared and applied without the religious and schizoid claptrap.
It boils down to changing attitude, setting up routines and doing things in small sections. I, and many others on here, have found it very useful. I get more support out of the Flylady thread on here than I do the website or e-mails though.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0
