I have just contacted a reputable well established Green Deal Company to be told....wait for it.....the ECO Fund will contribute 8 PENCE IN THE POUND towards a replacement LPG Boiler....excuse me while I get up from the floor!

They also said the EPR is still in use!

Talk about the Blind Leading The Blind...who the heck has got a CLUE what is going on here??

Nobody, hence why the entire scheme is a shambles, and is doing nothing to help our ageing housing stock.

Our assessment was free, and I still think it was a waste of money.

I should have billed them for my time they wasted!

They might just be using the EPR for internal purposes but it's not a requirement for ECO as it is just a unlodged epc which is not subject to auditing.

The 8 pence is pretty good atm most companies have got 6pence per unit. However the price in anticipated to go up this month because of the new annual obligations which starts today.

It's a very simple scheme where a price is paid per unit of savings made by the installation. What people don't understand is that the price per unit fluctuates and the savings made by a measure vary depending on the individual house.

ECO has installed over 600,000 measures in just over 500,000 households in the first year and is quite an achievement imo and doing a lot to help an aging housing stock and many vulnerable households. with 3 years left personally I'd say that its going to go onto be a massive help to a huge number of people.

The post I replied to was talking about Green Deal, and this thread is about Green Deal.

Green Deal is a shambles from the second the assessment starts.

My assessment was miles off-base, and what they concluded was our annual spend, was about £500 off reality. None of the upgrades met their silly golden rule, except the one we told them we could not have, external wall insulation. That is all they were willing to push on us.

ECO is still a drop in the ocean. IMHO.

Just to clarify the post was asking about ECO .

In regards to your assessment, if done correctly a occupancy assessment is only as accurate as the information supplied by the householder.I don't understand it could show your annual spend to be different to what it actually is because your actual energy bills are used.

The purpose of the golden rule is to ensure only cost effective measures are installed which seems pretty good commmon sence.

I gave them very in-depth information, which they mostly ignored to follow their little iPad program.

Not when you have a pre-pay meter they're not. We told them exactly what our spend was, they wrote it down, but the EPC/GD report decided it was something different.

In our report it looked remarkably like the golden rule was being used to deny any measures that might actually be useful.

Note how the EPC says £1965 for 3 years or £655/year. Not even close!

I keep the heaters as low as I can, and off for about 5 months. My own meter readings show we pay at least £1200/year for heating and hot water. everything else is negligible.

Ok the figures shown on the epc are based on a 'average' occupation of the house so that's why there wrong.

The green deal report should use your actual energy bills , looking at your report the assessor hasn't done this so the report is worthless. I am guessing that he/she has just entered 'no data' available for the actual energy bills where they should have entered the info that you gave them. (Which can be done for pre paied metres, as you should have access to an annual statement) I am guessing that they have probably done this because of they are linked to a installer or a provider and they will want to increase the repayment cap for a green deal plan.

That's the problem with the free assessments, although they are ment to be impartial the assessor will be under pressure to manipulate the report to maximize the company's profits.

I would suggest that the company should be reported as they are clearly imo not acting impartiality and within the guidelines
