Why don't they link to that from the GDHIF website? It's so important. That's already two posters above who can't take advantage.
Secondary glazing permitted against 2G then it looks like. What sort of secondary glazing is allowed? Glazing material? Fixed or accessible?
Floor insulation. What does this cover (no pun intended)? Removal of existing slab? Wall strengthening where the wall sits on the slab? Insulation above or below? Work to join the EWI or not? Huge topic and a huge job.0 -
If anyone just wants a boiler, the best option would be waste water heat recovery as a second measure as this should be an option to appear on everyone's gdar.
These can be a pain to install and will vary from around 500-1000 depending on how difficult to install as they have to get into the waste pipe under the bath or shower.
So I would see it more as a free wwhr and maybe some money back if your lucky rather than a cheap boiler.
Smily Dan I will try and find the answer regarding the secondary glazing.
Floor insulation again is a big job, if you have suspended floor just install new suspended floor with insulation. Solid floors either raise the floor with insulation or dig out the slab and insulate."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
WWHR gives very poor payback, if that is important.if you have suspended floor just install new suspended floor with insulation0

This is a very detailed job. Great care must be taken to avoid air movement bypassing the insulation, also condensation risk. Given reports of many of the installers, not sure I'd trust them.
20-30 saving a year, for free. Seems pretty good to me"talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
With WWHR though, whilst it is now an option to have on aGDAR, it’s not on my GDAR and probably not on many others – whilst GFHR is as Ispecifically asked for it at the time. I’ve been advised that potentially thereis a need for another inspection to ensure WWHR is listed on the GDAR.
Additionally, the idea of GDHIF is effectively to give you acash incentive to improve the energy efficiency of your home. Yet, for only£20-£30 saving a year on WWHR, that really isn’t a lot!
I’m in discussions with my potential plumbing contractor andI’m likely to go with WWHR as it’s the easier option and I’ve been quotedsimilar prices to the GFHR. I just don’t understand why GFHR was removed fromthe list but WWHR is still available. Additionally, I’m likely to go with WWHRas it’s only one contractor and Cavity Wall is available “free” (ish) withBritish Gas.0 -
So I just got this in an e-mail today, I have a house with solid walls that gets incredibly cold. I would like to get solid wall insulation of some sort. As I bought it recently, an EPC was done.
But how do I apply for this? It says you need to find a contractor and stuff. Am I way too late in that I need to jump through various hoops before I can think to apply? If so it sucks the e-mail was literally sent out saying "You can get it tomorrow morning".
Any advice welcome as I would love any financial aid possible in turning this igloo of a house purchase into something a bit more habitable! Thank goodness for electric blankets!0 -

Short story - you're highly likely to be too late to apply for this batch of GDHIF.
However, a new batch of £70m will be released early 2015 so I would start to investigate now, get your quotes etc., and be ready for then.0 -
Hi,
We are very interested in the green deal scheme as we have recently bought an old granite cottage and its very poorly insulated. We still have the EPC from March – I presume this is acceptable for use instead of an assessor?
With regards the finance, we would only be able to carry out the measures if we get financial help to do so (i.e. via the loan on our electric bills) – how does it work in terms of getting the cash? i.e. if we applied to an installer, when would we get the money to pay for it or do the installer claim from the green deal scheme themselves?
Many thanks0 -
So, its 9am...
How do you kick the ball rolling with this HIF?0 -
