Excellent news.
How do you prove home ownership when applying for the £500 bonus?
I sent a copy of the Land Registry document showing date of transfer of ownership to me. A copy of your solicitors invoice on completion should also be okay. Basically anything official that confirms the completion date.0 -
I started the Green deal process in April 2013 with 3 quotes for a small (25kW) Biomass boiler to replace oil, as I have free wood. They were surprisingly expensive (£15,000 to £17,000) as I was told that I could benefit from Government payments. They would NOT reduce there prices for a none Green Deal installation.
I followed up with an EPC (that needed to be corrected) then approached Anesco (a DECC approved Provider) for a Plan.
Anesco took 7 months to give a grand total is £63,000 of which £42,000 !!! was for the biomass system. They explain their price is more as the quality would be better.
All logic tells me to give up the idea of Green Deal as these prices are astronomical (A biomass boiler and accumulator can be purchased for £4000) with the addition of a few pumps etc.
I am desperately trying not to give up the Green Deal idea but each step seems to make it harder - and wondered if any other readers are experiencing similar costs?...... or know of reasonably priced or ethical installers either located or operate in North Wales?
Do you need a 25kw system? A wood burning biomass stove with back boiler is an alternative. I was quoted around 10k eight months ago from two different companies. You have to feed it yourself and obviously need a suitable location in your property, but it's great if you can spare the cash. Also look at Air Source Heat Pumps. Doesn't make use of your free wood, but cheaper than oil. Good luck with it all!0 -
So yet again some summary information has been released, and yet again the full details are withheld.
Where can information be found as to exactly what is permitted? Is secondary glazing permitted for double glazed properties, for instance?0 -
Is there a website for what exactly will be permissible and available?
Such as double to triple glazing, flat roof insulation and what cash back will be available. If freedom is outlawed, only outlaws will have freedom.0 -
Hi
I've a standard town house terrace with a double garage as the ground floor.
The house has newly insulated roof, walls & windows & a new heater. However the floor of my kitchen & living room (1st floor above the garage) lets the house down thermally, as it gets very cold.
Could the 2 items covered in a Green Deal cover;
1) Insulating blocks on the garage roof (ie the living room floor) &
2) replacing the metal garage door with one that's insulated & draft-proofed
As I know this is my only problem, it's not worth a survey to find out, unless I knew these could be covered
Perhaps there's a specialist installer who deals with such non-standard energy savings measures.
It would seem to me that both of these comes under insulation & draft-proofing but an operator from green deal thought that perhaps only the garage floor could be insulated under the deal, but that seems daft as neither neighbors in the terrace would be insulated & there's a big drafty metal door. An insulated garage ceiling seems the only solution.
I wondered if some knowledgeable person out there might let me know if it's worth querying this verbal opinion & if so what to say when I write to ask.

energy efficient replacement external doors
I wonder if this can be 1x Door. (i.e. a rear UPVC door).
This deal would give us £1500, which we need a new boiler (£2400 minimum), plus a rear door.
Therefore £3,000 of work, with £1500 cash and £1500 over the next 10 years or so via energy bills.0 -
Is it possible to just get a boiler only on the green deal ? I see on option one it says 2 items.
I live in a year 2000 house, I have 250mm loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, upvc double glazing.0 -
