Green Deal Home Improvement Fund [GDHIF]
GDHIF Terms and Conditions - Installers Released 01/12/2014
GDHIF Terms and Conditions - Providers Released 01/12/2014Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. I started the Green deal process in April 2013 with 3 quotes for a small (25kW) Biomass boiler to replace oil, as I have free wood. They were surprisingly expensive (£15,000 to £17,000) as I was told that I could benefit from Government payments. They would NOT reduce there prices for a none Green Deal installation.
I followed up with an EPC (that needed to be corrected) then approached Anesco (a DECC approved Provider) for a Plan.
Anesco took 7 months to give a grand total is £63,000 of which £42,000 !!! was for the biomass system. They explain their price is more as the quality would be better.
All logic tells me to give up the idea of Green Deal as these prices are astronomical (A biomass boiler and accumulator can be purchased for £4000) with the addition of a few pumps etc.
I am desperately trying not to give up the Green Deal idea but each step seems to make it harder - and wondered if any other readers are experiencing similar costs?...... or know of reasonably priced or ethical installers either located or operate in North Wales?0 -
rjocallaghan, thanks very much for finding the update. But shame on the DECC!
This isn't an update, nor is it in November! The only useful advice given is "Stay Tuned". Was the intention just to meet the target of announcing news about the Green Deal in (almost) November, but they had no information to put in it?
Never mind, we're just going to put a boiler in and get our windows done ourselves. I guess I'm acting pretty entitled over what's basically free money (holding out for the grants to come back); it's just stringing us along is kinda frustrating.0 -

Lol. Good luck with a £4k 25kw biomass boilers.
Those quotes you had seem reasonable what boiler were they quoting for?"talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
Just seen this on my network tonight might be of help to some of you all,
At the National Insulation Association conference DECC hint that GDHIF announcement will be made this weekend with a start early next week but vouchers will go quickly AND let slip grant for SWI will be £40000 -
I'm still wondering where the £60 mi££ion worth of vouchers went from the previous ?Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. We need a boiler, however holding out for the Green Deal offers.
Was quoted between £1780 and £2300 for a Floor Standing Heat Only to Combi Boiler.
Ideally, the £1780 to £2300 could be used elsewhere.. (Garage Roof, UPVC Cladding etc)0
